“Scratch Guard Coat contains a newly developed high elastic resin that helps prevent scratches from affecting the inner layers of a cars painted surface. With Scratch Guard Coat a cars scratched surface will return to its original state anywhere from one day to a week, depending on temperature and the depth of the scratch.
The water-repellant paint also has a higher resistance to scratches compared with conventional clear paints. A vehicle painted with Scratch Guard Coat will have only one-fifth the abrasions caused by a car-washing machine compared with a car covered with conventional clear paint. Scratches from car-washing machines account for the majority of scratches to painted car surfaces.
Scratch Guard Coat is effective for about three years.
Scratch Guard Coat will be applied for the first time on an SUV model that is scheduled for a partial makeover in the near future. The paint will be applied to the cars chassis, bumpers, door mirrors, among other parts.

Hmm the fact the reflection of the sun is on exactly the same spot on the car and same shape. Unless they took the picture of the car at the same time a week later after leaving it in that spot i'd say it's chopped.
Great technology though would save a lot of money in the long run and also make it easier to keep your car looking good.

Look at the sun, and the shadow on the bonnet. At least if they are to prank something like this, make it more realistic 
And if the technology is what it say it'll be, its really a coat of some substance applied over the paint... and when the surface gets scratched it can self repair... but what happens if the scratch went deep into the paint?
Great idea though, but will cost butt load as an option i rekon

This sort of technology has been around for a few years but Nissan are one of the first ones to commercialise it. I think it's still a bit too novel to be useful at the moment - you'll see some differences but it's ulikely the advanages will outweigh the cost. In a couple of years everyone will have similar products and it'll be cheap enough to consider.
We've seen some pretty cool stuff where I work (surface coatings industry), but it's always been too expensive for commercial use.

That would be the new xtrail, got a pre release release re this as we boght one about 2 years back and get the offers to update.

There's a few Apply once, rinse clean surface finishes out there, although most need re-surfacing every year or two to "keep the dream alive." Check out last month's EVO magazine for the "Permagaurd" treatment on Harry's Ferrari 550 - which He hopes to never wash again! I think Dickie Meaden's Exige copped a similar "Autoglym" treatment a little while ago, no word on how it's fairing though.

yes they're all shit if you ever have a bingle/scratch and want to respray bits of it though.
