Not sure on their availabilty in Oz but in NZ where you can find them just about anywhere the early (mid eighties) Nissan Silvia is a good LSD option and way easier to find than an LSD T series diff. May not be Toyota but the stud pattern is the same.

I can't think of anything apart from light commercials, and they're probably too big and heavy for your needs. The AE86 LSD would probably be just the ticket, but they're bloody hard to find these days and cost way too much.

I think your best option for a clubman is a 10 bolt diff from a Nissan Bluebird TRX series 3. Light, strong, LSD and disk brakes to boot.

How about a borg warner 4 pinion LSD from a skyline R31 or VL turbo, they arn't too big and heavy, plenty of parts available, ratios from 2.78 up to 4.4 and almost unbreakable.

Yeah ive got a TRX 10 bolter sitting at home, but it still seems way too heavy same for the other Borgies.
Im talking about something like an Escort or Early (TA22 era) celica, Ie. super light . but i cant for the life of me find a 4+:1 LSD option.
I suppose i could go for a Nissan based DeDion setup, but tat will end up being heavier tham a comparable live unit.
Why cant it be easy!!!

If you are after a light diff and are building the car, why not go for an independent rear from an early datto or even a WRX.
No sense in lugging around a live axel in a car that only weighs 600kg.
What engine are you putting in it, just intersted.

What sort of Clubman is it??
Fraser Cars here in NZ use the Nissan DeDion setup. I think Caterham in the UK have a light weight rear axle, can't remember what it's based on though!!!

Escorts do have a LSD but cost a bucket, a ae86 jap LSD
would be cheaper in the end.
The only lighter LSD that come to mind are fiat 124 / 132 items, but I have heard of weekness problems, you would have to check how much they can handle. You also get disk brake rear with this option. From memory they are fairly high ratio's

Avoid the borg warner ones I'd suggest - look at S12 nissan option, and any other old school live axle datto's too, most of them you can swap centres (including LSD) into if they don't have one.

My mate has built an AC cobra I can find out what he used but the cobra has a 351 in it so you may not need something to handle that amount of torque.

If my memory serves me well a diff out of a datsun 1200 or 510 is a R160, the rear diff in subaru legacy rs & gt's (4.111 5spd 4.444 auto's)is a R160 also and I think they are interchangable.

I severely doubt you'd find an R160 at the BACK of a Subaru - can anyone say *snap*? A version of it WAS used on the front of the GTR though (remember the front diff is only used on demand and to a moderate extent, the rear is an R200)
