Well I've got all the bits I need for the 100kW conversion, and will try and squeeze some suspension and brake work in at the same time. The body and paint work will have to wait till last..

Mate I got mine for $1500 but it's got a bit of hail damage. The biggest thing to watch out for is rust, if you do a search through the forums you should be able to find some info on what to look for when buying a sprinter, I'm pretty sure I posted some stuff as well as some others.

Hi sprtinr,
They're out there, just gotta keep looking. Of course when I bought mine it was just a stocker, and I've added all of the other bits myself (and still am). Unless you find one already tricked out, you really need to spend some money on them to realise their potential, otherwise there are a million other cars you can buy that will outperform a stock (aus spec) sprinter.

I picked up the wheel from Pick'n'Payless for $25 it's actually just an AE82 Twin Cam item, except I've swapped the "Twin Cam" horn button with a jap one I got off a friend.
For the 100kw swap.. off the top of my head...
- electric fuel pump + bracket
- high pressure fuel filter
- rear water outlet (I used an 86kW one which are the same as the RWD ones, although there's plenty of room up back and I've been told the 100kW item will fit)
- RWD extractors
- throttle cable (off an old KE?? corolla.. cant remember which one)
- electric radiator fan
- convert intake manifold to RWD
- rwd engine mounts and stuff (just take off the 4AC)
- lots of hoses and clamps and stuff
and while you're at it you may as well throw in a new clutch and pressure plate, timing belt, etc.... There could be more stuff but thats all I can think of at the moment...

I got the headers from Stewart Wilkins Rallying, they're at 6/16 Wingate Rd, Mulgrave phone (02) 4577 2400. I think they cost me about $277, cant remember now. I needed to get the flange for the O2 sensor welded on afterwards, plus I had a flange fitted to the end of the extracters for easy removal afterwards. Liverpool exhaust can do this pretty cheap. Do that before you stick them in the car, it'll be a lot easier, but you'll have to tell them where to put the O2 sensor. I put mine on the join between cylinders 4 and 1, but it was a bit tricky since it needed to be raised a bit due to the two bolts on the O2 flange. The rear part of my exhaust is the same from my 4AC, I just hacked the front bit off in front of the rear axle. Then it was just a matter of getting a piece welded up with a center muffler to join it all up.

hi ae86drift..
yes it is a stock aus one - but - i modified it to the higher redline.. plus added an engine check light (you can see it in the pic above the charge light). I just used an art knife to carefully scrape away the white paint...
It was my first attempt, and a bit dodgy. I'm going to do another one, this time I'll take pics and turn it into a bit of a tech article!

Someone else asked me about the dash via ICQ, since I typed it out for him I thought I may as well cut and paste it here:
--
on the back PCB side, the spot for the globe is already there but it's covered on the PCB.. so you just need to cut a hole in the PCB so that you can fit a globe into the hole, and scrape away the green cover stuff off the copper connection strips.
On the face of the dash, I used an art knife (sort of like a small stanley knife) to scrape away the shape of a little engine. It looks dodgey up close but ok from a distance. I made it a bit big and the top and bottom are cut off a bit - I'll get it right next time
Finally I just traced the track on the back where the new globe went in down to the connector, and hooked up a new connector pin which goes back to the ECU...
thats about it.. sounds complicated but not really...

I had it done over at a place in Carlton. See www.consoles.com - it was a full re-foam/skin, they did a pretty good job, just never got the chance to try it out, it's still in the plastic wrapper.

Yeah they specialise in 4WD's but they do car stuff as well. Just give them a call and they can give you the info. It was over a year ago I had it done tho.
I've been meaning to chase up that earlier offer of $200, thats about the lowest I'd go. You might want to check out the colour first before you buy it, as it's grey, not black (I guess a bit of vinyl spray would work).

BTW the body looks great in the photos but in reality it needs quite a bit of work.. got hail damage, some front guard damage and badly faded paint. I plan to start on the body soon tho, should come up ok as rust-wise it's pretty clean (compared to my last one, anyway!).

Ill keep an eye out on the forums and may try some smaller wreckers. Tried Parafield "SA's largest Toytota wrecker", as it reads and they didnt have any left. People had already snatched them up and the other one I got my taillight wanted $150.
Tried U-pullit and they didnt have any either so I might have to do some more ringing around tomorrow.

Hey all
Just want to write about Uncy Sams ride
I can say that his car is very impressive like -->
His taken me for a spin and I cant believe at how good it goes.. Compared to my car the power kicks in very early.. Say about 2K/2.5K and it hauls all the way to the redline.
Everything is great about it a big thumbs up and thanks for the ride mate.
Cheers Mick

Hey fellas,
nice lookin 86 sam, i just picked up one myself.
its an 5\83 #658 AE86 with a 4agze conversion done, intercooled, Nevo 11psi pulley, extractors to 2.5' system, brass button clutch, TRD LSD, Koni's all round, KMAC lowered sprinngs, big KMAC sway bars, Autostrada 15x7 2 piece racing wheels with yokohama A539's.
I can certainly vouge for the delivery of power that a Brass button clutch gives you, a must hav for reliability and power on a mod $age or better. A supra gearbox is also great for delivery.
anyone in Bris here?
thx
Brendan
