7M Temperature Gauge Wed, 05 March 2003 02:44 Go to next message
Hi guys,

Anybody know the location on a 7M of the Temperature gauge connector? I JUST brought my Soarer back from the mechanic and the digital dash guage was going crazy, anywhere between half way and boiling within a couple of minutes - then going back down again.

I freaked out and stopped the car and stuck my head under the bonnet, temperature was normal!

Any help/comments is much appreciated

Dan

Ed! would you know why my temp. gauge would be going up and down as often as it is?

I don't beleive it was happening before i took it in for a service

maybe the loom plug was loose? perhaps just jiggled around a little? maybe it threw some spurious impedance readings back to the gauge cluster??

check the function of the thermostat just to be sure though

hey, you get my voice mail. i tied to ring you on sat Smile

got a few things i need to talk to you about/email you some designs Razz

ed

Yeah i did sorry!

I was of in la-la land most of Saturday. You can email me at work on DanielS@Belkin.com and i can take any designs and stuff home to show my dad if you'd like.

Probably best that you speak to him directly though cos he'll be the one doing the work on it.

I'll ask him how his workload is. Feel free to come up the coast and have a chat if you like... its a lovely drive! Razz

I think the 7m does what u describe when there is air in the coolant system.
So try running all the air out and see if that helps any.
Brett.

Yep, my Supra did exactly what you described when it had air in the cooling system. Bleed it and all will be well.

Just to make an affirmative action to you checking out the air pockets in the cooling system, the same thing happened to the cressida when she was leaking coolant and the air pockets were reaking havoc...So yeah, bleed the system!!! Smile

If your engine overheats as a result of air pockets then yes, that could do significant damage: blown headgasket, warped/cracked head, etc.

I can't beleive i paid a guy to tune it, checmically flush it and install the radiator coolant that I (yes me) provided

When i got the car back i freaked out because of the temp. gauge issue and called him back straight away... the usual response

"It was like that when you brought it in"

Grrr
