Scanner Fun...

Got pulled over for an RBT on the way home from gig tonight. Its the first time since i have my police scanner on me, anyhow, listened to them talking bout me for a bit and then read out my details once they had pullled me over. Made sure i had the volume down so they didn't hear it hehe.
Anyhow, what does Intel mean??
Ive got Intel for car theft... all i can think of is that i rang the cops when my sprinter was broken into and stuff was stolen. Is that it??
Or have they got it wrong, sounded like i'm wanted for car theft hehe!! just wanna make sure, cause i'll ring them tomorrow if they have it wrong.
Whats intel??
Luke

Uh, be careful
I think, with a scanner, you can listen to them talk but it is illegal to USE/ACT on that information

Sounds like they had some information (Intel) on some car theft and they were seeing if you fitted the bill maybe.....

possibly they were requesting info on your car to see if it had been reported stollen.
Pretty much standard procedure for a nice looking car with a youngish driver.

Luke, every time a cop see's you do something stupid they put information on a central data base. ie you are seen at an illegal drag meet. they write your plate down get back to the station and put it on your car rego intel. so when a cop pulls you over they will ask the operator for your intel, they look up your number plate, and can tell the officer every thing you have been noted for. if you have lots of intel for being seen at illegal meets, and a cop pulls you over for doing ten or over for example, he may have given you benefit of doubt and said be careful. but if you have heaps of intel they will book you cause they know you are a known suspect for that type of thing.
your personal intel is for stuff you have done not in regard to a motor vehicle. you could go in and ask for a report on your record which they can print out. say you need it for a job your going for, ie your trying to get into the police force, and they will print one up, it costs $40, i just had to get one for my new employer.
if you have a mate who is a copper they could run your rego, but have to be careful cause they can get in deep Shite for it.
i used to live with two cops, thats how i knew all this.

I rememeber years ago when I was up at an uncles house listening to the local police frequencies, I heard the radio operator request a car go check out a break and enter. I was kind of freaked out when the address for the break and enter was my home address!

This is probably going to get me flamed but...
Take the scanner outside and burn it before it gets you into any trouble..
