For those who tune their own cars, was wondering what A/F meters you use. do u just setup and autometer guage to an 02 sensor or go out and buy something specific which will give realtime readings...
just some thoughts...
cheers

You can't use those meters for car tuneing. They're dodgy firstly and secondly they are only good for ratios right around 14.7:1(stoichiometric ratio).
You need to use a wide band sensor that dyno tuners use, quite expensive, they also have heaters in them to heat the sensor up so it operates correctly.
At the back of the car, when you screw it onto the tailpipe they don't get hot enough and you must have its own internal heaters on to get accuracy.
Would be great if we all threw in $100 each and used it for the club.

i do have a wide band 02 sensor(4 wire) which is screwed into the end of my extractors under the car, what i want to know is what kind of unit i could use to get accurate readings?
i know the other ones are crap, i was just using it as an example...

Ah right then. You need to get a WB kit. Search the web, there is a guy that makes the kits, he's in Canberra. They are around $500. They output a 3v signal which can only be used by a proper wb detector. You can't use the autometer guages, they're for the stoich(1v) af sensors only.
Where did you get the wideband from(Honda)? How much did it cost?
Just cause its 4 wire doesn't mean its wideband by the way.

yeah, off a honda... scrounged it from a wrecking yard. they charged me 15 bux for it... the only reason was that i was thinking to run lamda on my ems and they wanted lie 250 bux for a bosch lamda sensor from them
thanks for that, will see how it goes, bit pricey though eh
