1G-GTE in RA21

Hello, I'm from the U.S. and I have a '73 Celica RA21 with the 18RC. I was thinking of swapping in the 1G-GTE and have a few questions about it...
-Will the 1G use the same motor mounts as the 18RC? -Will there be a lot of fabricating or will the 1G-GTE just drop in there nicely? -For the tranny I plan to make it auto. Do I use the the auto tranny from the 7M-GTE or 2JZ-GTE? -Will I be able to use the current driveshaft for this conversion or do I need to get a particular one? -How upgradable is the 1G-GTE? In other words, how is the aftermaket for it?
Feel free to comment, suggest or give additional advice on this conversion. Thanks in advance.

You're best bet would be to get a front-cut. Use the auto from that. As for any turbo engine, there are proven ways to get more power. Exhaust, boost, airfilter etc. After these, it starts getting more expensive, if you want it though, its out there.

1G-GTE will not fit in an RA21 without major surgery to the engine bay. You need at least an RA23/TA23 to fit a 1G.

If an RA21 is like or TA22's (shorter nose than the *23's) it is possible. But cutting has to be done, i know of a guy that has done it.
He had to cut a rather large step in the front sub member (thick metal section under the radiator), and i dont think its a good idea as this is a structural part of the car!
But this has to be stepped so there is enough room for the crank pulley to fit in. And after that id like to see how the hell the radiator, thermo and I/C fits!!!!
