Guys
when I start off in first my 4AGE seems to shudder below 3000 revs. It doesnt happen all the time, just sometimes, when the engine is sorta cold.
She is getting old though, 189 000 klms
Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to cure it
Please dont say 4AGZE conversion

my mate has the same prob w/ an fto and has been told it's his syncros, but most of the fto people aren't very tech so u never know with their advice
also, i noticed that even if the engine is warm but it hasn't been driven yet, it'll still shudder

my father encountered the same problem with his WRX, subaru gave him an STi pressure plate ( also known as the diaphram and that will be the main prob) and clutch. so get a total package, clutch, bearing, diaphram and a fly machine.....also do a rear main oil seal and oil change, u will not regret it....while u r doin all that clean ur injectors and fuel tank and increase performance, sparkies.....and sooner rather than later u r up over the $650 mark. anyways i think clutch shall fix it, and if u do that recommended a rear main oil seal at 180+ kms is a wise choice

Check out your engine mounts too!
4agze is good, 20 valve is good, but turbo still rips both (on a real world budget at least! ultimately I'd love to do a 'proper' supercharged 4agze without that pathetic little blower but something decent)

Thanks Guys
I thought it was to do with the engine.
But I have noticed that the clutch is starting to die on me
so i guess its the clutch, bummer, i just bought a house, and i dont really have a spare 600 smackers
But, i am really keen to drive the car with a fat new clutch
'reaches for chequebook'
ill let you know what happens

Also have a look at the flywheel and pressure plate. If you have hotspots on either or both your clutch will shudder like an earthquake. Best option on the flywheel is to have it machined, while the best option on the pressure plate is to throw it over your shoulder.
