jza80 supra intercooler into gt4 - frontmount Thu, 20 February 2003 23:13 Go to next message
heys guys - as the topic states has anyone seen this intercooler setup used ina GT4 or would be able to give me any ideas on how its done ?

local Gorst shop said they have all the pipimg there to bend up in polished and can do the mounting etc ..

is this an effective budget upgrade - ?? i hear the front mounts are more efficient in cooling than the top mount GT4 setup on the st185 ?

Also heard that it may have a little more lag with the longer piping or something ?

can someone set me straight here ?

Stuart ( soon the owner of a st185 if all goes well )

length of pipes will make a small difference in lag (you dont really have to worry unless you try front mounting in an MR2)
the diameter of the pipe has a larger effect on lag.

The JZA80 guard mounts are very efficient intercoolers. They're not that big, but work wonders. You might want to talk to norbie... he's joined 2 of them together to create a monster front mount, or you could try paul (supragte) who had a custom front mount made for his supra

i could do that - buut try finding one Smile

i know of one near melb that will be going back onto the car - so that rules that out - plus have you seen the asking price for aeplacement waterpump for those coolers!!! i could have the frontmount done for the cost iof waterpump alone Wink

( fellow member of cccq has a group a - hes suffered the cost! )

availability of these coolers ? bar piping - and phgiycically fitting it in - is there any technical things there i need to look at ..

ive never had a turbo or efi car before so im still learning big time .. - ie thinds like afms or sensors and crap like that that may be in the pipes or is it straightforward ?
