I still haven't decided what upgrade to put into my RA23. I do not want a drag car. I just want something that is a nice car to drive to an from work, that has a little power to tow a jetski and something that has a bit more power then the 18rc anchor that I have. The questions are??

1. What problems would I encounter? (FWD to RWD stuff)
2. Cost?? (I am not looking at modding)
3. bang for bucks. 16v or 20v??
4. Getting Engineered in QLD?? (cost)
5. Is it worth it??
6. other alternatives.

bearing in mind I do want to insure this car without paying big $$$. That is why I have not looked at the turbo route.

I do not know what this willcost or how much time it will take. I have put a rought cap on the total instal at below $2000. Am I dreaming??

I've had a 4AGE in an TA then RA23 for a while now, & I reckon it's a great little engine. I dunno how much fun it would be for towing stuff, even just a jetski.

There are some good articles on 4A-GE conversions in the articles section, check that out for conversion tips.
Costs, make a generous estimate then double it. I am being deadly serious about this too.
Bang for buck, 20V is a bit trickyer a conversion, but will result in a bit more bang.
Engineering in QLD I have no idea about.
As for whether the 4AGE is the best pick, I'm not too sure.
If you want to do towing, & you want a fairly easy/cheap conversion, & engineering is a concern, I probably wouldn't recommend the 4A. An 18RG has a few more cubes, is a much easier fit, & the car would be much easier to get regod with it in any state, as some models of celicas came with them standard.

Now if you wanted an engine for a track car that needs to be small and light & sit well back in the bay, then 4A would be the go, but would still need alot of work, maybe a turbo.
