Carb to EFI Conversions

OK to start things i am a qualified auto elec. I have a 95 hilux with a 22r engine. I have just about finished my carb to efi conversion on this vehicle. Only have the wiring to go. Just wanted to write this post for people who may be considering a EFI conversion. Alot of toyotas vehicle came in carb and efi versions, although this is specifically about the 22r the majority of it is relevant to other toyota vehicles and EFI conversions
The donor vehicle
Ok started by finding an old corona with the 22re engine in it. Easy enough i found an 86 model in Brisbane and got it for $600 complete and running but no rego.
The strip out
Towed the car to the gold coast on a trailer and basically stripped the car. Removed all panels, motor, gearbox, fuel tank, wiring harness, anything for the EFI and a few other bits and pieces. The shell of the car and anything else not worth keeping of selling was dropped off at the local scrap yard.
Prep work
Had a surge tank made to house the original high pressure fuel pump and mounted under the tray-back. Swapped exhaust manifolds. Striped and cleaned intake manifolds. Mounted battery into my toolbox in the tray(this had to be done to allow air filter to fit were battery lives). Mount lift pump.
Conversion
Stripped anything related to the carb off. Fitted EFI intake manifold to engine(one brake line had to be reshaped to allow manifold to fit and egr was removed), intake pipe, airflow meter and pod filter. Mount fuel filter on bracket with the modded corona steel fuel line to the tank. Mounted the injector resistor. Mounted and connected all fuel lines(from rail to surge and surge to tank.
Still to be done
wiring for air flow meter, o2 sensor, fuel pumps, coil/igniter, relays and ecu. The manifold harness was separate and that is all run.
If there is anything i can help you with please ask. Sorry for the long post but i just wanted to share this with you all. I will probably finish off the wiring over the next couple of nights and all will be done.

Could you explain the 22re's distributor trigger?
Its is reluctor, hall, optical wheel, etc?
Trying to work out the easiest dizzy to use on my 18r.
Thanks.

M.W.P - its a reluctor type. Do you plan on using this with an EFI setup or Carb? The distributer has no vacume advance because the 22re system has electronic spark timing.
Phenoix - i will get back to you when i get to that

electronic spark timing, that doesnt sound good 4 my case, that would mean a wire from the computer connects to the igniter, am i correct cause if it does ive been told to buy the wrong bits as the 2t-geu doesnt have computer controled spark

hey BansheeBuzz,
I been searching the net for ages on some info on this very topic..
a few questions to start off with..
how hard was it?
(I'm a machinist by trade and i have rebuilt an rx7 b4, so i'm ur average back yard tinker that knows his way around average tools..)
how much did it cost? u said u got the car for 600 but how many other cost did u have to put out?
how long did it take?
and most importantly was it was it worth it? was the power increase noticeable and was the fuel consumption alot less?
thanks
Mick
