Hey guys, just after some possible bonnet scoops for my AE92 SX which will soon have a GZE. The mechanics suggested using an early model WRX scoop, he thinks it suits the car...but anyone else have other suggestions?
Thanks.

Whatever you choose don't put a GT4 celica scoop on it!!!

they look shit on anything but a GT4 (they look cool on them though)
IMHO of course.

Ditch the top-mount GZE IC and eliminate the need for a scoop. Put a W/A IC somewhere or go front mount.

I plan to ditch the stock intercooler in the future, can't afford to right now. How do the Water/Air intercoolers work? where can you put them? and can you keep A/C with them?
Thanks.

Then you'd get a reverse scoop (HELL YES!) to SUCK the air out Very Happy You'd HAVE to add some flares to the guards to accomodate the extra rubber you'd need for all that extra power - actually bugger it, just add the flares anyway - make sure they're studded, SLR/5000 style! Evil or Very Mad

(is it just me or has NOBODY got any memory of when cars had tasteful appearance? coloured leather - ever seen a blue cow?)

A vent will work best, as cool air swirling around your engine bay isn't gonna do alot to help, where as a vent will suck air out of your engine bay, which will in turn allow more air to flow through your radiator.
Air flowing through the radiator will have much better cooling effect than air around your engine. the more air flowing through the radiator then out of the engine bay the better.

That's why bonnet scoops are mostly used for top mounted intercoolers or cold air induction, rarely, if ever, for engine cooling.

But a bonnet scoop is like a bigger, more effective vent. When driving it would direct cool air onto the intercooler, much more effective than a vent IMHO.

Yeah, for a top mount intercooler a scoop would be better, but for cooling the engine a vent is better.
