1GGTE Wiring Diagrams Tue, 25 February 2003 14:39 Go to next message
Hey guys, I've got a copy of some wiring diagrams from a 1GGTE that I got from Grant (thanks), only problem is, I don't think they are the same, as the wiring colours don't match up. I'm assuming the ones I've been sent are from a Gen 3, but I'm after some from a Gen2.

Can anybody help me out with some diagrams, Grant perhaps? Razz

Thanks,
Nathan

You can download the ones I have, they, I think, are for a Gen 3 1GGTE and are located HERE

So yeah, if anyone can help me out with some Gen2 ones I'll be most appreciative.

Mine is wired up with the bare essentials, however I want to hook up the check light and a couple of other bits. It is also handy to have a diagram if anything ever goes wrong.

Don't do wiring based on colour; you'll come unstuck. Even the same series of engine a year apart can have different colours. Treat any diagram as a guide and work on computer pinouts. As far as I remember Gen2 and Gen3 have the same pinouts so the diagram should be the same.

Grant

I had another look at the gen 3 wiring diagram.

GEN 3 diagram shows 22, 16 and 26 pin connectors on the ECU
My Gen 2 engine has 18, 10 and 24 pin connectors on the ECU

If I remove the extra pins from the wiring diagram, I loose half the throtle position sensor wires and one of the oxy sensor wires. Does this sound correct.

Also the TE1 wire from the check connector is removed. This is needed to retrieve the engine check codes isn't it.

The rest of the wires seem to be for the auto transmission side of things. Having a manual, I am not too worried about them.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Anthony

Cheers

Hey Grant, I was looking through some old fast 4's magazines of mine and saw an article on 3 old celica's with 6's in them, two RA23's with 1G's and an RA28 with a 1J. Where these your creations. Awesome cars.

If they were, how did the 1J finish up. I remember drooling over that car when I bought the magazine. All of a sudden the little 18RG I had looked a little insignificant Confused

Wow, blast from the past. Yeah they were ours; well at least the RA23's were. The 1J Celica did get finished but now in storage as Paul is living in Japan.

Had another hunt through my diagrams. Sorry, no Gen2 circuit diagrams that match your pin sequence but I do have early air/water pinout diagram with pins 10/18/24. If you pop the top off the ecu you may find the circuit board is coded. If so, you may be able to use a Gen2 diagram as a guide. In any case I'll email you the earlier pinout information.

Yeah, I was hopeing that too. The Gen 3 computers have the pin outs numbered on the PCB but the Gen 2 computers don't. Something tells me that it just isn't going to happen.

Thanks for your help Grant

is that wiring harness the same as the 1989 supra one? i think thats mk3 right? thats what my motor came from.. Im searching EVERYWHERE~! to find a MZ11 5MGEU and Z20 1G-GTE wiring harness if people could me out.. that way i can compare them, and see what i need to add, delete, create.. and then wire up the car.. this is posing to be the biggest problem.. i will learn quick enough though.

If your engine came from a pre 88 Supra like mine it will be a Gen2. If its after that it will be a Gen3. Find that out, and then try to find the right Gen wiring loom.

just a guess but i would say you should get the 89 supra wiring loom. Also, the later model z20 soarers may have the same wiring as the gen 3 1g supra engine you have. not sure on that though.

but what about the wiring to the dash and everything like that, dont i have to take all that out? or is it just the wiring that goes to the motor? im sorta confused on this, im going to see if the wiring is the same today, im with the car at the moment, i should know by the end of the day, as i said, i have the 1g wiring to compare with the 1g-gte one.. what would be the difference.. i know the RB30 and RB30ET can use the same wiring harness, except you have to make an earth on one of the plugs to use the computer.

It will be similar to my car. Remind me to show you a picture of my car where you need to connect the loom.

So... will the 1G-GTE and 1G wiring harnesses be similar? (Like the RB30 and RB30ET)
will the 1G wiring harness be made to fit onto the 5MGEU's remaining wiring harness? and then just use a 1G-GTE computer? Or, 5MGEU computer, and will an EMS handle the motor side of things? Im really confused with this electronics side of things..

Re: 1GGTE Wiring Diagrams Sat, 05 July 2003 12:25 Go to previous messageGo to next message
it wouldnt be that easy
impretty sure 5m has about 10 wires goin to ecu
theres not much

to get the 1g workin properly with a circuit openin relay for fuel pump and all the proper shit means addin some extra wires

i did a supra with 5m originally and they were pretty basic efi system

the 1gg needs power from the efi relay

then the air flow triggers the circuit openin relay to turn the fuel pump on
i think 5m doesnt have that relay
im not to sure
i couldnt find it i could be wrong

No, there is quite a few wires that need to be connected dude. Its nothing like RB30 --> RB30ET, they are engines of around the same age, the 1GGTE is much more complex.
