Can anyone tell me the correct procedure to reset the computer on 7mgte when the battery power has been disconnected, as i have had to do this several times, sometimes it sets it self perfect after a couple of days and sometimes its lumpy for about a month.

hmm,
i've never heard anything like this before, you may be right though because the computer does 'learn' things as time goes by, don't know if it loses this after battery is disconnected. There's nothing in the manuals about it. If you find out anything let us know yeah?

I would be fairly surprised if the 7M-GTE ECU (circa 1986) is advanced enough to contain any self-learning functionality. If there's nothing in the manuals about a reset procedure, there's a pretty good chance such a procedure does not exist.

Wouldn't prolonged periods of crusing at a certain amount of throttle ie. highway driving help to improve the mixtures as such?
i cant spell the 's' word so i wont even try

Yes absolutely certain it is self learning. It does this for fuel mixtures only. It takes the 02 sensor input and then skews the output to get better af ratios.

Pretty much all ECU's since the introduction of unleaded fuel use the O2 sensor signal to adjust the mixtures at cruise, but that's not the same thing as self-learning. I still don't think an ECU that old would be that advanced...

Yes, it does change mixtures in real-time, ie while cruising or whatever. But it also does self-learn and improve upon the basic fuel maps. Granted it's not very advanced, but it does do it. I'm sure if you asked on the SOGI mailing list someone would give you confirmation.

If you what to change the A/F ratio's significantly the Apexi S-AFC's are compatible with the 7M-GTE. This should allow for more Mods. and amendments to fueling to suit.
Note: Its a piggy-back computerthat intercepts engine signals and modifies them before going to the OEM ECU to fool it.
There is a newish one for sale on ALSC for $470 or can occassionally get second hand from $360-$400.
