Hi All,

I'm just wondering, what is required to be changed to be able to get a mod plate (Queensland) for a 4AGE engine swap into a AE86 Sprinter? And also, approximately how much will this cost?

Thanks in advance for the help

Bugger all really. I did it a few years back. Just take it in to authorised inspection station and ensure you have all the relevant pollution crap hooked up, it all looks neat and professional, and you're away. They'll do it staright away for you. (The guy I used was aware that the 4age wa standard in the Jap spec AE86)

Where abouts are you located? If you are on the southside then give Vito a call at Ultratune Sunnybank ph# 3344 2721. He is an Authorised plater for Queensland Transport. I think the plating is only very cheap. Between $50-$100. I was going to get mine plated but the girl at QT looked straight at my 4AGE (an ugly conversion) and checked the VIN# and passed the car!

In terms of insurance, I'd get it plated considering the low cost. Insurance companies will do anything to skip paying claims if they can, and if they check your engine and find it's 'technically not a stocker', you may have a fight on your hands.

Found out off Anthony Kellam that what i will need is a fuel restrictor and a cat, the rest is ok, so thanks for your help people... i also chatted to insurance companies, and only found 2 that will cover it with the 4AGE in it, but they want double what every other company wants (assuming it was a stocker) Sad
