GZE wiring help Fri, 28 February 2003 05:59 Go to next message
The engine and all accessories are now fitted, time for wiring. I can't get the efi and engine main relay to switch on but I can start the engine by running a power feed directly to the ECU, obviously this isn't the right way to do it. Have i missed an earth somewhere?

Has any one got any suggestions.

Vic.

does the power feed to these relays stay on when the ignition key is in the starting position? some wires although providing power at the ignition position, do not when key in start position.

o.k. have you checked the fusible links near the positive battery terminal? if these are good then i would suggest that you break out your trusty multimeter, or god forbid a test light, and check if there is a constant feed to the relay, i would check the efi main relay first, if the factory wiring is still in use the positive feed should be red with a black stripe, (but dont quote me on this) the earth will be white with a black stripe, ignition switch black with orange stripe, and the final wire will be black w/red stripe, when relay triggers power will come down this b/r wire into the efi system. try this because it appears to me that this is the relay with issues.

Thanks JDM, i've worked it out it was a pissy little black wire with a yellow stripe, i gave it ignition feed and the relays switched on. Everything seems to be running properly.

Thanks again
Vic.
