Just an idea but has any body ever don this or thought of doing it and would there be any great advantage. The only reason is that being EFI gear seams to be getting hard to aquire for these engines

It's definitely been done, and the advantage would be razor-sharp throttle response and probably slightly better top-end power if tuned properly. Quad throttles definitely ain't cheap though.

Yea it would cost about $1200 up front just for the throttle bodies. I think it would be a lot of fun.
Thanks for your reply Norbie

Around 500-.550 per pair of Motec throttle bodies, add 1-150 for little things like throttle stops, linkages etc, a little more for a fuel rail, then low 2K for M4 ECU, and about 4-450 for loom and sensor kit, about 150 for TPS. Oh and the rest to convert to an EFI fuel system (surge tank, lift and high pressure pumps) - couple hundred.

It has definitely been done on an 18RG before...there was a beautiful red RA28 with a lovely quad throttle setup in one of those 'Hot4's' style mags before they went to the shitter. A lot of 'love' had been shelled out.

yes i remember reading up about that car years back i think, it made me drool.. lots work had gone into that beast from what i can remember.. i think that was the car that spurred me to find an ra28 for a project.
Stock 18rgeu injection you can find here and there on these forums for about 3-400 at most, just have to wait for the right private seller i guess..
quad throttles, lumpy cams, and hyper compression ratio would be mad on an atmo 18RG.
Good luck jason!

One of these days I will get a 1G but at the moment i just want to play around a bit and have a bit of fun. I figure its a good learning experience and maybe i can pass some of it on to somebody else with as much enthusiam for old old school stuff as i have.
If anybody has any pic's of that 28 id be keen to see them as would most of the other guys on this forum i guess.
Thanks for all your input guys.

You mean this one?
I saw it at the Adelaide 500 last year... very very nice car.
Pitty though, its become a show car, its too prefect to use for anything else which is a shame.
It has to run on avgas too

To see the rest of the pics (damn site doesnt allow direct linking to pages)...

I read somewhere on a mr2 messageboard that old dcoe-like carbs can be modified to act as quad throttle bodies. It didn't sound like it would be that hard.
The carbs used were dellorto's that were past their use-by-date.
