I'd like to point out that my EFI RA23 has no surge tank at all, and I ran it close to empty (3 litres left) last night with no hint of surge, even during "spirited" cornering on the way to the servo. IMO surge tanks are a waste of time with these cars, as the upright tank design does a pretty good job of preventing surge as it is.

very interesting!!!!
i had a ra23 with an 18rgeu, and it had no surge tank an i ran that think right down and never had a problem. This motor, i have spent alot of time and money into making it what it is, so i dont want to jepordise that by not spending an extra $130 bucks or so.

The other option to consider is modifying the standard fuel tank. I have not personally looked in an RA23 (so no one shoot me if i'm wrong) but from Norbies comment i assume the tank is similar to a KE30. What you do is add a recess to the bottom of your standard tank that sits 2-3 inches down and feed your fuel line from this. You then only need one pump and should never have problems with fuel flowing away from the pickup.

could be running rich.. but yeah the 23's are good with surging, 28's are a bit harder as I cant mount the pump below the tank
