Stupid lesson learnt ...

this might sound really dumb, but it caught me off gaurd, and fucked with my mind for several hours today...
WHEN lowering your car and installing nice, stiff springs and shocks, be aware of your engine loom, and the condition/fitment of all of the loom plugs...
you may now be able to rail around corners at mach II, and you may not be personally concerned with the harsh ride quality you get on local streets, but when my engine just totally DIED on me today (like stoppped dead in a heartbeat) you are faced with one PITA job trying to troubleshoot the electrical system on the side of the road - trying to source the loom plug which didnt like the bumby ride.
seems the connection wasnt that great, and the harsh ride qulity just shook it into a position of no contact.
major PITA - worth a thought in the back of your mind i figured.
cheers

Man, that would have to suck! I have to say I would never have given that much thought... makes sense though. I like how the main plug on the 2JZ ECU is actually held in by a big frigging bolt... that baby is going nowhere!

Very good point, I have very stiff suspension in my Supra and and the other day I hit a bit of wide bump, wasn't go that fast as I was turning, I hit bump and the engine must move alot cause the engine fan must of cliped the radiator (plastic) cowling and riped a section off.
Man the sound of it, thought I killed the engine. Luckly I pulled over straight away and removed it from doing any harm
Cheers

Yup I had the same problem with my ignitor. the loom side of the plug was a bit dickey and the pin had just slipped out enough to break the connection. Go over a bump and the alternator light would come on. Only problem is that after the bump it would make contact again. The engine would start and away we go again.
That on had me going for weeks.
