cant help with the QLD laws but heres the nsw ones, they probably arent much different, and if anything QLD's ones will be more relaxed. basically if you have a read youll find the maximum angine sixe in cubic inches is total car weight x 0.294
therefore a coroner weighs about 1.5 tons? (there about the same as a bluebird?)441 cubic inches?? thats in nsw.

Qld laws are very similar to NSW laws. The 3x rule applies for naturally-aspirated engine swaps, ie the vehicle's mass multiplied by 3 is the biggest engine you can legally install. I'm afraid a 4.0 litre engine (assuming you mean the 1UZ) won't be legal.

It probably has but there are some things you need to ask first
1) is it a road car?
2) if it is a road car, was it done before the laws had been reformed?
3) has it been done LEGALLY?
prolly some more but thats a starter

dood, dont drop the cookie just yet. do more research if you're really serious about it. i'm researching into a swap aswell and everyone said it'll cost heaps. they're right but atleast i'm prepared now. sometimes you have to compromise to see things through. good luck to you.

thanks for replying. it will be a road car so i cant go overboard. what gave me the idea of a 1UZ conversion was i found some guy who had put one (twin turbo) in his TA22. i dont know what state he lived in but i thought 'if he can do that to a TA22 Celica then i can do that to my XT130 Corona'. i think hes a member of toymods. I'm also going to upgrade me brakes to HIlux 4pots which is what engineers like to see when putting a higher power engine in, dont they?

Talking to an aquaintence from Victoria just before, he's pretty sure that they have power to weight ratio laws, or somthing to that effect.
SO, either this was done before the laws came out or its not all that legal
