3TGTE relays Mon, 03 March 2003 09:04 Go to next message
I have just finished installing and wiring my 3TGTE into my TA22 celica and am having a bit of trouble running it. At the moment it cranks fires for a second or so then dies.
As yet i have not connected my radiator and hence have no water flowing through my engine.
Also my fuel pump only comes on when im cranking (ie. start at ignition), but i have dirrectly connected it to 12v so it was running all the time, and still it only quickly fired then died.
I think all my wiring is right, so am guessing theres something wrong with my relays or computer, is there anyway of checking them?
Also one of my relays, its silver thiink it is the injector relay gets midly warm, is this normal?
I know this is pretty vague but if anyone had some different ideas id love to hear them.
Thanks
Cam

Mate I'd say its your circuit open relay..

Basically its job is to power the fuel pump up with a few different inputs to trigger the relay.. STA is one of them from the starter motor (thats why the pump goes when you are cranking), then there is I think, but don't quote me, FC from the Air flow meter? This should go to the circuit open relay so when the flap in the air flow meter is open it triggers the relay to run the pump.

You better double check all wiring to the circuit open relay (usually a green relay with 5 wires going into the base), should have circuit open written on it.

If you need any help let me know.

Cheers
Joel

Found it, ended up was leaking manifold pressure through one of the connected hoses. Now she runs fine.
Thanks for your help joel, i still thought the fuel pump was sposed to run at 'ON' so they it could pressurise the lines and ready them for starting??
seems to be alright and once the motor is running the fuel pump is running at 'ON'
