Replacement Oxygen sensors, Mon, 03 March 2003 12:07 Go to next message
I have a feeling that the CAT and oxygen senser on the exhuast are fucked, the engine runs very rich and when i boost then let my foot off a big puff of black smokes comes out the rear end, fuel consumption is extremely high, what is a replacement oxygen sensor? (equivilents?) are there any other ways i can tune the air to fuel ratio.

This is a 3t-gteu engine.

Couple of points:
1. Turbo engines always run stupidly rich under boost, even NA engines are usually pretty extreme at WOT (can anyone say LS1??). This is because there are no emission testing does not include WOT, therefore it can be gotten away with...
2. The oxy sensor is ignored at full throttle anyway
3. Does the 3t standard box use an oxy sensor? I didn't think it did... It doesn't even have ignition control.

Plus if you drive it hard, you WILL use bulk fuel whether you like it or not! Very Happy

somthing like an apexi s-afc
from my understanding its a fuel computer that adjusts fuel and air ratio by messing about with the AFM or MAP sensor signal
user adjustable
so if you think your running rich adjust the mixture

i think its changable up to 50% in either direction?

might be a bit costly though
about $700 new or anywhere from $300, i saw one once, second hand

EGO sensors are only used during closed loop running (as in when cruizing).
If your black smoking at other times, it because of somthing else.
