my little radiator has shit itself and i am fitting a bigger radiator from a corolla. It is wider than the Sprinter's one but has the outlets on the RHS when facing the front of the car. My reason for getting this radiator is simply because for $92 it has been cleaned out and has a new top tank on it. It just means i will have longer radiator hoses. I will just use my dodgy thermo fan but i may fit the factory corolla thermo later if this one can't cope. I pick up the radiator this weekend so i will tell you how the fitting and cooling all goes.

Well i have the radiator, it is a few inches wider than my current radiator but looks like it will fit ok, the hoses need to be modified to fit.
Overall my mechanic feels it will be fine as the later model radiator seems to have alot better cooling fins, holds more water and is bigger in size. The real test will be when i am sitting in traffic for 10 mins. The Sprinter used to overheat a bit when in stop/start traffic.
I will keep you posted.

early holden gemini radiators are a good option... they are slightly wider and if you get a 3 core one, you're laughing!!! i'm not exactly sure how they'd fit the sprinter, but in my 4AGE powered TA22, it fits perfect (engine bays are comparible)... slightly wider and the same height!!! have a look at pics on my website for an idea... i'm sorry if the application in a TA22 has no relevance to application in the sprinter...

OK sorry to get back to everyone about the results of my radiator conversion. The news is all good though.
The radiator i believe is out of an AE92 or there abouts corolla. My mechanic just said it was from a later model corolla and it is slightly wider. The hose outlets are not in the best spot for my engine (100kw 4AGE from corolla) but a bit of pipework and the setup worked fine.
I am using a simple aftemarket thermo fan that was already on the previous setup.
Once we took the old radiator out we could feel how much mud and shit was really in it, this and the fact the core was pretty wasted was the main reason for upgrading.
I haven't taken the car out for a good test drive but i let it idle in my garage without any airflow for 10 to 15 minutes and the tempurature stayed nice and low. Even after alot of heatsoak it still sat low.
As far as fitting went i just cut out a corner of my battery mounting plate and i had to make up some custom radiator mounts (from 2mm aluminium). The piping can be sort from Supercheap and if need be an exhaust shop can supply some nice stainless piping bent in all the right places.
I will move my battery to the boot but only because i am using such a big battery. A smaller battery would still easily fit in the factory location. I will have some photos to show soon.
