Is the deck height different between the 3K and 4K? just swapped a stuffed 4K for a 3K and now my extractors are resting on the engine mount. Anyone had this problem. This is in a Starlet, the 4K and the 3K are both ex Corolla motors.

Is that a retorical question?
i would have thought that would be obvious if the extractors used to be higher, but now sit lower when bolted onto the new engine. I could be wrong, im just saying what i've read.
The only other reason is if you bent the extractors/exhaust.
Thanks

I Just want to confirm if the deck height is different. Something is obviously different between the motors, but could just be the engine mounts being positioned differently. My understanding was 3k/4k blocks were identical, but I want to know if anyone can confirm it for me . Don't want to pull the motor back out to swap engine mounts if it won't help.

Thanks
So, now my extractors are no good and I can't use my twin carb manifold with the factory exhaust manifold. Oh well, more parts I can sell.

My just fantastic lateral thinking solution (please no one tell me that it wont work!!!!!).
What I plan on doing to get around it is slot the engine mount holes on the passenger side 5mm or so and then weld washers on so it can't slip down. This will move the mount down the block as well as lifting the engine so I will get the clearance that I need.
I think the extractors may have been made on the car, most manufacturers make them a universal fit.

They must be a very tight fit as it normally isnt a problem.
