Suitable Engine For RT118 Corona Sat, 08 March 2003 12:41 Go to next message
Hi All
I'm a Holden owner(don't hold that against me)new to this forum, who has just aquired a RT118 Wagon. Its 75 Model, auto, thats in good original condition except for a dead 18R-C for $150. The car is going to be a daily driven 2nd car for myself mainly, I want to keep it as an auto too. Some more grunt under the hood would be as I'm too use to the my Commie V6. Figured you guys might be able to give me a few ideas on what other Toyota engines will fit into this lil beasty.
Thanks
Craig

18R-GEU will fit no probs, all 18R blocks are the same (i have yet to see a different one in my experience), I used to fang my ra28 with an 18R-geu everywhere, also went through 2 gearboxes and the 18R still purred Very Happy

18R is the easiest and best bang for buck.
another think which I *think* fits is the lexus V8, but that's going beyond making a daily driver... that's making a monster that'll trash your commie Smile

Thanks for that bit of info, I'll do some checking on $$.
Can you give me any links with pics, specs etc on the 18R-GEU eng.
The Lexus engine would be overkill, but a very nice thought.
My misses suggested putting my spare 350 Chev into it, but I
said that would require major work, aggro and so on which I
really don't need.
Another question, can I adapt disc's to replace the rear
drums??(its a jap banjo type) or what other rear axle assemblies with disc's will fit??
