Expressions Of Interest: 74 TA22 Sun, 09 March 2003 08:52 Go to next message
Hey all

I very possibly could be selling my TA22 soon

Off the top of my head:

-2T Motor
-Auto
-2 inch exhaust
-14X7 inch Rims (not the rims in pictures)
-Floor Recarpeted in Black
-Original Interior - Cream Vinly seats....very good condition....only one tear in drivers seat....thats it
-6x9's in rear parcel shelf (Pioneer)
-6.5 inch splits in front Doors (Pioneer)
-Autotechnica Steering Wheel (Still have the original if required)
-Straight Body all round....passenger Door has a large dent in it....but i have bought a spare one to go on which is sitting in the garage....been too lazy to put it on
-front and rear bumpers are sweet
-Stiffer Springs, But standard height kept, & Monroe GT Gas Shock Absorbers....Feel nice
-No major rust on, only a few tiny surface spots ....to be expected on a 30 yr old car
-Drivers Window mech is rooted....window doesnt wind up or down...needs new window regulator
- Additional Gauges added for Battery Voltage & Oil Pressure
-Alternator replaced with 85A as opposed to original 40A unit
-Quartz Halogen Light Conversion (sealed beam lighting)
-Immobiliser with red Flashing LED on console (Immobiliser switch is hidden well)

Like i said in the ad
Body straight as - but the passenger door is rooted
however i have a passenger door sanded back ready to be sprayed sitting in the garage...

i had rust around the windows in 2 spots....they have been taken out

on a quick inspection there is no rust

theres little 1cm spots of surface rust here and there near the bottom of the panels.....but nothing i would call rust really.....like seriously.....sandpaper and its gone
in 2 seconds

but if u have a mate in sydney that can check it out for u thats fine with me

Well the "rust" thats there, it wouldn't cause the car to be unroadworthy would it?

Cool! Can I ask how the rust was taken out? Was it just sanded back and bogged up or was it cut out and welded up?

Yes im serious about selling
Ill need some time to get certain things out of the car first b4 i give it to the buyer....but ill only start doing that as soon as i get someone who's genuinely interested

Ill take a deeper insection for rust tomrorow

As i said earlier....there are little bits of 2 cm surface rust here and there..sandpaper and its gone...but definetely nothing that would make it unroadworthy

When/if u come have a look at it....ill give u as long as u want with the car mate to inspect it from bumper to bumper

heck ill go inside the house and leave u to it and let u let me know when you;re done if u want

2 Negative points:

-Needs an allignment..... Made friends with a kurb
-Drivers Window regulator rooted

Thats all i can think of now

What are your plans for the car ?

You want $1500 for a car you only paid $800 for? I think you're dreaming. Remember that a lot of the "features" you're advertising are what I put on the car while I owned it, not what you've done. Does it still have the original auto in it? If so have you fixed it up? If not have you mentioned how much it will cost to fix it? I would expect that the tyres would have heaps of tread as they had only been used for a couple of months before I took it off the road and you used the wheels and tyres in the picture.

The car was in quite good condition for its age as it was kept garaged for most of its life. I know this as the owner before me was my grandmother. The areas of rust were minor. There was damage done to the passenger door and guard by a kangaroo one night, but nothing that can't be fixed. There was also rust behind the driver's door down the bottom that was a bit deeper than just surface rust. The other areas was of concern were around the windows (front and rear) but they have been taken out). There was also rust near the chassis number in the engine bay. There are still pictures on my personal website http://users.bigpond.com/michaelswann. I can't vouch for what's happened since, only what was there when I sold it 12 months ago. I still have a lot of the receipts for the work I had done on it, especially I think for the major things like tyres, suspension, electrical, brakes and engine. $1500 is a bit much in my opinion. My original for sale post is probably still on the message board. Have a look at that and see what's different from what Mani's offering. You will find it is pretty much the same, so I don't know that much really has been done to it.

Swanny shut your F**king trap and dont dog other ppls sales

I spent over $1000 to get the F**king thing past blue slip so dont tell me $1500 is too much for it.....im not selling it for a dollar less.....id prefer it to sit in my street
and on top of that $1000 to pass blue slip i spent a bit more aswell

The stuff i had to do to get it past blue slip Swanny:
-New muffler and tailpipe assembly......it was leaking when i bought it off u = $255
-New fuel pump assembly = $136
-New drivers side seat belt setup = $165
-Labour of all the above = $423 (i would have done some myself but i was in yr 12 at the time)
-Rust taken out of corners of windows & weld CRACKED cross member and rust under passenger side door .....approx $250
- I have receipts for all the above

On top of that
-Recarpeted interior
-replaced front bumper
-replaced rear bumper (good luck trying to find a good condition chrome bumper)

Plus whatever else i said in first post.....

If u guys can find better deals good for u but i dont need some smartass in here to dog my sale then get embarassed like this

From memory mike was your name ?

Mike you advertised your car for $1200 .....so i think $300 extra is DAMN fair for the extra work ive done ?

ive also got your collection of papers here still about the car....and reading it right now your original price was $2000 ??? ...... im not saying its worth $2000 but im sure ppl can see where im going with this

PISS OFF

Mani

This is not the place to rant and get abusive like that. It's been a while since I've had a look in on these forums. I was making my assertions on what was presented in your post. You made no mention of the work you've done since you bought the car off me, now that you have I would say $1500 is a fair price. I spent much more than that in the time I owned it and would have liked to get some of it back.

Dont lecture me on forum etiquette (spl?)

lately we have been very pissed off with ppl coming into ppl's for sale posts and saying "no way your car is not worth that much"....if u dont believe go to the membership and feedback section

i find it rude and unnecessary to come into someones post and do what u did......ESPECIALLY since u r showing no interest in buying the car

so once again dont lecture me on forum etiquette (spl)

"You made no mention of the work you've done since you bought the car off me"

That will hopefully teach u the hazards of assumption...... anyway....regardless of whether or not i mentioned the work ive done......bottom line....

YOU DONT DISRESPECT SOMEONES SALE

End of story.
