I know of some damn fast Charades... Doesn't change the fact that they're death boxes though...
I've never been as scared as when I drove a Charade.... Little shoebox on wheels... *shudder*
Welcome to the clan. As Bigworm said, come along to the monthly meetings and meet some people!

but diahatsu is owned by toyota, my dad use to own a Diahatsu Terios and if u looked at the front diff the brand on it said Toyoda lol, but yeh the dealers will all tell ya it's a way for toyota to sell cheaper cars by using a different name,on the other hand Lexus aren't cheap cars but it's certainly no merc, what do they call em a Japanese Merc

As far as i know, they're separate companies its just that toyota bought them out. Maybe they're beginning to swap technology nowadays - i dunno.
Gotta agree they *are* deathboxes (well at least the '92 and below models were)
Mine feels pretty safe (newer model) - but then i don't drive as psycho as some of you guys might.
But nothing compares to a big fat commodore (used to own a VL) when it comes to driving a BRICK... traffic moves out of your way like nothing else when you've got a cammed 6cyl and a very free flowing (loud) exhaust
ahh one day i'll be able to afford that kinda petrol usage again...
So what are the most popular cars around here? Rollas id think?

Some Toyotas are actually brought over here as Daihatsus...
Like the Sirion. If you go to Japan, you'll see them with Toyota badges on them.

Hey, there might be a few corollas around, but that by no means makes them the most popular! You see, all the corolla owners round here have a bad case of what we call "celica envy", which means they tend to get a bit edgy & like to blow their own horns when there's celicas around.
Of course all the smart ones ditched their rollas & got celicas, & havn't looked back since!
Flame me up!

heehee.... we all KNOW down deeeeeep inside, every rolla owner has a severe case of celica envy!! Even those who proclaim they dont just wish for a RWD car with power and handling (and less of the gay 4A - Joel)
And then there is all the supra owners - those that dont already own a celica, have celica envy... they just want that superior coolness!
And the celica owners... they are content
Maybe when they have enough money they'll buy a supra as well, or a cressida when they get a family.

Supras are for Celica guys that can't handle the mid-corner responsiveness of a small wheelbase/track.
Got my flamesuit on.

No no, Supras are simply celicas for guys who need to compensate for a lack of, er, "manhood".
Hey Karl, let's not bring an engine war into this thread/battleground, us celica owners need to remain united in this sort of hostile environment.

Hey, I'm the first to admit that my cars doorhandles are designed in such a way as to avoid fingernails being broken when they are used!
That's why my car's undergone the odd modification here & there.
I don't think any of us could claim to having a totally standard car that suits us perfectly, that's why we modify them. It's good that celicas were mostly owned by nannas & hairdressers, they havn't been thrashed & are in the perfect condition for some denannaing.
I don't know why I've gone & put another nanna motor in my car though, but that's soon to be rectified.
I couldn't bring myself to modify the doorhandles though, I just hate chipping my nail polish!

LOL.. the last few posts summed up what ive been trying to say.. but can't.. because college ISA is buggering things up.
but Cyber... never.. NEVER drive a volvo..
rollas are far superior to volvos.. but then.. pushbikes are superior to volvos technically.
Hell.. The Flintstones car is better!
but Supras rule..
im still looking about.. *sigh* possibly starting a new job today, so i should have more money coming in to try and find one with

i dont like FWD.. just because its easier to drift RWD

i like my dreams.. except for the one where the last supra in the world is sold to a museum... and its not my supra.. and i die.

Hey bandit, do you mean that literaly or do you have a convertable corolla
Don't worry Rolla boy its all in good humour, if you evaluate the thread as a whole you'll find that its just friendly rivalry and contains none of the malice that comes out in certain threads involving a certain someone and his love of pushrods.

I very rarely criticise except in jest.
I'm not one to pay out 'rollas... I got trashed in my celica by a 3s-gte 'rolla (hence buying the supra )

I'd just Like to say that I didn't have any of the teathing problems going from a rolla to a celica to a supra.
I went straight for the grand daddy of toyota's. My soon to be low riding fast pimping CROWN wagon. Nothing is going to beat the feeling of other ppl say Holy Sh_t that shouldn't go that fast
