Serviceable parts for a Soarer Thu, 13 March 2003 08:01 Go to next message
I am keen to do a service on my car and am wondering what parts I can buy (oil filters, fuel filters.....etc) I can go get that will fit it. It's a TT Soarer. Are any parts changable with an Ozzie Toyota?

What oil do you recomend using?

I just wanted to do the works.

Should I get a new air cleaner or go for a sports air cleaner. If I should go for a sports one what kind?

Thanks

STeve

All parts needed for regular servicing are easily available in aus.

Oil filter, air filter, spark plugs etc can be bought from any auto store ie auto barn/auto one kmart etc. Timing belts are a little more difficult but aren't a problem.

I would not recomend a pod style air filter unless you build a cold air box at the same time. The performance gains are negligible and they make your car noisy. Plus (and in my opinion, most importantly) their filtering ability is not as good as the factory panel style.

Cool thanks for the info. I will do a run over to town this afternoon. Do you just buy Soarer parts or something that is interchangeable?

For example will they have a Soarer oil filter or will I have to get something like a Camry one that is the same?

If I do have to do this what are the things I need?

Oil filter - Ask for a 1996 Vienta filter
Fuel filter - Ryco Z383

Spark plugs -
steel plugs: NGK-R BKR6E-8 (or -12, need to gap to ~0.9mm)
platinum: NGK-R BKR6EP-8 (or -12, see above)

Gates have a timing belt... I got mine about a year ago, and can't find the box, so I can't give you a part number at the moment. But they are easy to find if you have the part number.
