Anyone here that's done a conversion to a 1UZ, and manual trans, just wondering where you sourced flywheels and clutches. I have a bell housing, but need the rest.

Please don't do Dellows the service of giving them any more business! Try Castlemaine Rod Shop instead (03) 5472 2853

Speak to HKSPete (of these forums), as he's done a 1U into a Supra, complete with manual 'box...Not sure whether he used Dellows or Rod shop gear but, from what I hear, Dellows aren't people you'd want to deal with...makes you wonder how/why they're still in business!

Nick from Carbontech is building my chassis (I am building a Lambo replica) and he has the bellhousing i need, but i'm just seeing what other people have used as well. I thought there may be another model Toyota flywheel that bolted to the 1UZ.

Congrats on building a lambo! They're great. Are you going to Canberra this weekend for the italian cars meet? David White (white carbontech lambo) is going down, I was gonna go with him, but my water pump needs attention.
Nick usually knows his stuff. He made me a bellhousing to go to my box, but then I told him I had a R154 Supra Turbo box instead. He gracefully refuned my money.
Ended up getting a Dellhousing, which was 15mm short (no shit)! I had to make a spacer out of my old 7M bellhousing and get longer bolts. Dellow Automotive are not the nicest people in the world at all. Bunch of bastards.
As for the flywheel, I used my racing flywheel and twin plate clutch that came with the car. I got the ring-gear from the 1UZ's torque converter heat shrunk onto my flywheel, then got it ballanced. Cost me $200 from memory ($150 for drilling new holes and shrinking ringear, $50 for ballancing).
Another thing to note is that I used the spacer that came with the 1UZ's torque converter. Its got the 8 bolt holes in it, and is about 3mm thick. I had to use it so the bolts would bite long enough.
Dellow Automotive also do the thrust race and that sort of thing. It comes as a kit, but you can draw a line through bits you don't need (I didn't need flywheel, clutch, or a hole cut out of the bellhousing as the slave cylinder for my clutch is inside the bellhousing - no fork).
I thought the Carbontech replicas were using an Alfa gearbox? I know they use Supra tailshafts (diff to wheels).

Hi Pete,
Yeah, Lambo's do go off. Mine is the last Lambo chassis Nick is making, as he is turning his attention to his Redback project. So mine , Dave's and Nick's will be the only 3 Carbontech replicas. I am using a Renault UN-1 Transaxle, from a 25GTX Turbo, (as are Nick and Dave) although my suspension is an all alloy setup - ex JZZ-30 Twin Turbo Soarer.
I went for a cruise in Nicks Lambo just after Xmas, and jeeez.... talk about change undies!
Nick has a bellhousing that will accommodate a 9.5" clutch, so I'll use that, and see where it takes me....

Yeah Nick will know which one to put in to suit your needs.
I still recon it'd be HEAPS easy to fit two very large turbos behind that engine, although an intercooler(s) might be difficult (put two, one in front of each radiator?)
How long will it take to build? I was working with Dave when his was getting built, the constant updates from Nick were great as we were all watching the progress.
Ask for a ride in the chassy (before he puts the doors/windows/guards on). One helluva go cart!

Im chasing up 2 CT26 Turbos for that very purpose... (see thread in the wanted section) As for the intercooler, I will be mounting one large one above the transmission, and let the massive negative pressure zone created at the back of the car pull the air through (same as the cooling system works)
I dont know how long it will take me, but it get the bare chassis in a couple of weeks, and i will be doing all of the remaining work myself.
I take it that you've seen the video of Daves "go cart adventures" at Nick's house?

Where are you doing the work?
What computer are you going to use? I've got a computer that in my oppinion is better than the Autronic as you don't need to modify the engine (pull the crank trigger off and mill down some of the teeth).
CT26s would be good, but roller bearing ones would be better, especially if your spending that much on the rest of the car.

Ill be doing the work here in Mildura.
I need to run no turbos / Std computer to get it registered, then fit a real one and the turbos.
Possibly the new Haltech system... what do you have?

These guys have probably heard enough of my computer dribble. And it is off topic.
Gimme an email @ peter.watson@vss.com.au
I might see if I can take a trip to Mildura to check up on you. (Any excuse for a road trip)
