That's an MX22 or an RX22.
In Australia, it will be an MX22. It will be a 2 litre (M) or 2.3 litre (2M) 6 cylinder (of course, it's over 25 years old so it may have some other motor in there now). It will run a 4 speed manual or a 3 speed auto (most likely). It will have a 3.909:1 7.5" open diff. Front solid discs 266mm, rear drums. Double wishbone front suspension, semi-independent rear suspension. Pretty plush for back then.

What do you mean by "semi-independant" rear suspension? Don't they have a solid axle?

Norbie, they have a solid axle, but they are multi link and have a Panhard rod. Because of the lateral control afforded by the Panhard rod, it is defined as 'semi-independent'.

Why a 2M? Grab a 7MGTE! Or even a 4M if you don't want EFI..

God, don't do the 2M thing unless you want to restore it to original condition. If you're on the cheap, 4Ms are everywhere. If you want a resonably straightforward performance upgrade, get a 7MGTE.
Like my mate's one.

I also heard that:
Input shaft splines may differ.
Flywheels and clutch diaphrams usually differ.
do you know much about a 2M|4M conversion?

Buy 4M. Remove dead 2M. Bolt in 4M. Drive away. That easy.

Some very basic info on M series engines here:
