Sold My Ta22 - BOUGHT THE GT4 ! Wed, 19 March 2003 06:46 Go to next message
well , It sold today - im a bit sad about ti - but it was time to move on to the next stage ..

Its going to a good home - and the new owner knows ill hunt him down and inflict pain i he treats my old Pig Badly Wink

In its place tomoorw arrives my 1990 St185 Gt4 to start its life as the new Occursed victim of my spanners, Though its already been looked at with a new exhaust setup , some fuel delivery tweaks here and there - and the twisty brass knob of goodness - the boost controller ..

It should be happy though - On its way - if all goes well is a Gt4 Grp A front bumper , A new lower and sportier Suspension setup , possibly a front mount cooler , and a nice set of non dodgy stock rims ..

Should be a sweet ride - i HOPE!

Pics soon

Congrats Classique71,
Welcome to a new world of Toyota driving. Youll be very pleased with the car once you've done some more mods. I dont recommend 15PSI on the stock ECU though.

the previous owner said somewhere between 12 - 15 - i REALLY need an accurate boost guage ..

Reccomendations on something cheap and effective would be cool fellas as the stock no number thing that imitates the boost guage ( looks like a bloody fuel guage to me ) is crap ..

Id really like to know what accurate figures of boostits producing ..

The boost controller works well though - ive had that wound down today to puddle about in town - and you can feel less boost there - compared wto when the things wound up ( obviously )

re the fuel volts thing - im actually considering putting the stock fuse thing back in to make it run at 12 again - for insurance sakes .. the jumpered points look a bit offy , if any authorities were to inspect it

yes the stock gauge is worthless!!

buy something decent and accurate because you don't want to be overboosting

i have an autometer gauge which was pretty easyish to install and very accurate at a reasonable price

Sad to hear that you sold the 22, but the gt4 was a great way to step forward. I love em.

Autometwer guage - noted - pray tell how much did that puppy set you back ?

Im pretty happy with the power the GT4 makes - its definantly fast enough for my liking ( as i found out last night ) - Im mainly concentrating on modifications i can do with the stock bottom end without murdering the budget anymore Wink

I still plan in the future ( read 12 - 18 months ) to have a ta or an RA 23/28 as the " fun car " They are just so different to drive than the GT4

One eats up corners - with no effort - and boosts out of them like the things on rails - the other is a physical shallenge to drive and more " rewarding " when you can get such an Old school low tech package to dial in and have fun in !

but for now - i have 1 garage space - but that will change in time Wink

juustin - read above quote -

in about 2 yrs ill be looking for an EFI ta22 or ra23/28

webers are mega fun - but ive found boost - and boost is good..

its sorta like cheap wine - the way the turbo works is basically free power - that just has to be tapped - that makes your car SOO much quicker ..

cheap wines easy to obtain , costs bugger all , and gets you pissed quickly Wink

Re: Sold My Ta22 - BOUGHT THE GT4 ! Mon, 24 March 2003 08:12 Go to previous message
i payed 11k for it. its in great shape bidywise - no dings or rust , has a few minor chips in the front bumper but no physical damage , a clean grey velour interior , new exhaust system thru-out ( AVO 3 inch performance system ), boost controller - hks turbo timer , CD stacker/amp/dodgy front/rear speakers ( anyone want this cd stacker + deck for cheapish ?) 4 good tyres = service + so on

pics will come asap - probably tomorrow as i have the day off to give it a wash ( country roads = dirty car )
