Just want a general opinion on how much I'd get for my Pentium 3 500 and motherboard. The motherboard is Asus, no onboard shit etc, jumperless bios. I want to get a Pentium 4 and just looking to upgrade the motherboard and cpu.
Also I am looking to sell a Pentium 200, 128 mb ram, 2.1 and 1.2 gig hd, voodoo2, tv tuner capture card, 32x cd rom, 16 bit sound card, 56k internal modem. $350 with monitor or $300 without monitor.

it is a magic tv with fm tuner and remote. it's got the brooktree BT878 chipset with s-video. I'd be looking for around $40, as to cover costs from my tightass friend. (he owed me about $40, so he gave me the card). tightass prick.

the motherboard is ASUS P3BF I'm pretty sure thats what it's called off the top of my head. It's got the Intel 440BX chipset. It was also the flagship motherboard (at the time of purchase).

Bummer. I was hoping it would be a p3v4x.
Any details you can give on the tv card? Manu/model, etc? Does it come with all cables? Has it got the ability to plug devices into it and do capture?

ummm yeah, not likely. firstly, i wouldn't sell the 2 for 300, secondly theres no chance in hell i'd be sending it to you at my expense. I do hope you don't plan on replacing the P200 cpu with the P3 500.

Hmm, in melb a celeron 1ghz machine goes for around $900, unless you get it from one of those 1 year wonder stores that undercut the competition and close up bankrupt and appear accross the street under a different name

Whoa...they are like last year prices.
Well, I guess it's who u know then. $900 can get me a top machine with no monitor etc...just the tower with the goodies.

This guy I know, he lives in Doncaster, VIC. Well I don't really know him but he's a friend of my uncles business partner...my uncles friend as well. He got a really cheap computer and I needed one so he told me to go visit him. He also advertises in the Melb Trading post.

Hehe, when you said Machine I thought you meant full package, Standard 17" Monitor, Mouse & K/B, Speakers, Tower with goodies inside .
Just for the box. Well about 7weeks ago I got my AthlonXP 1800+, ASUS A7V-266E, 256 Mb DDR (Soon to be sold) and 40gig Barracude4 and LITEON 32X CD Burner and 450W Mini Server Case for $980. Which I though kicked ass back then .
It suits me just fine. Just remember NEVER COMPARE YOUR MACHINE TO A FRIENDS machine if your purposes/needs are completely different...
Personally I play alot of games, and do alot of web browsing etc. I just wanted a quiet fast, cool system. Which I have almost finished.
Geforce4 Ti4400 soon, though with the current developments in the Graphics card scene I will only have it for a short time .
How cool does the new Matrox Pahelia-512 powered cards look?
3 Monitors for surround gaming. YEAH BABY

Why a 4400? That's a middle card.
I reckon you should scope out the gainward goldensample ti4200's over at http://www.pcrange.biz/prod_gwgf4.html
The ultra 650xp looks freaking sweet. vga/dvi/VIVO 128meg ram. Oh yea.

I've been looking closely at the ti4200, the overclocking ability is very nice indeed, but I don't usually overclock much. The price difference between a ti4200 & ti4400 is not much. The ti4600 is not worth it. Considering a ti4400 can be overclocked to the same levels. I'd like to know how far a ti4600 could be clocked!
I believe the Leadtek one is the way to go, due to its very nice wrap-around heatsink. Cool to the touch even during intense games at the shop.
It's all good, I buy knowing that mine may not be the best but it is still damned good and it is still running all the games I play flawlessly at nice resolutions . When the games have to have their graphics details altered from full etc. That's the time for me to look around and gauge whether what's available at the time is good for another 6 months. I believe the Geforce4 Ti is good for another 6 months, given the games I like to play...
As I said, buy what you need, because you need/want it. Don't go for "top dog" if you don't need it, you'll be bitterly disappointed in just a few months when new products leave yours in their dust heheh.

Leadtek. My personal opinion of them with also seeing the problems other people have is to steer clear of them.
BTW, a 64meg leadtek ti4200 is $399 anyway. May as well spend the extra $40 to get something that is better quality, (hand picked cores), twice the memory, and that can do VIVO instead of only tv out. The 128meg one is over $500. And I'm getting prices from pretty much the cheapest place in the country at gamedude.
There you have it. I hope this gives you a better understanding to make your choice from.
EDIT: I better mention sorry for the hijacked thread.
