if I go out and get my car registered as a 2.8, then get an engineers certificate for the 2.5TT conversion what happens to my registration?
do I just inform the rta and insurance company, or do I have to pay rego again.. or what?
I dont want to be forking out for 2 lots of rego, that would be silly.
I will need to pass an emissions test for the conversion, if this makes a difference

Yep, you'll be reregister it, because essentially it's a different car.
For some reason I think it might be like with insurance, if you cancel it early you get a refund. I can't say for sure though, I could be wrong.

yeah, I'm fairly sure you do get a refund... but you also sacrifice a certain amount for cancelling it... I'm not too keen on paying $100 or whatever for a few weeks rego
but I might be able to get it all done in time *fingers crossed*
