Hey,
I am considering buying a ae86 sprinter as my first car Smile First of am I better of to get a 86 with a 4age/ze or 20v in it or should I do this myself or put in a 1JZ! Would the 1jz be better being a torquey and strong beast or stay with the normal drift method of putting a 4age/ze in. I do like the Terouno's pop up lights and is it posible to fit a front end to a aus spec, as terounos are expensive (Cred seeling em for 10 grand standard Sad), or is it just easier to stay with the normal rectangular headlights (and is it werth it?). I will be drifting on occasions so to get a good setup how much would I be looking at (suspension,sway-bars etc). And am I better to buy a 86 or ready built to save me money in the long run?

u plan to drift with your first car ?
i assume you got p's ?
firstly its not that expensive to do a trueno front conversion
the problem is the ae86 jap spec parts are rare unless your willing to get it from japan.
if this is your first car i wouldn;t recommend getting a 4agze or 1jz. there is a lot to consider like insurance, maintenance, parts etc.
4age should be a good way to start since its n/a and has the lil bit of grunt when u need it, you can drift with it also although i don't recommend it.
it is better to buy a car already setup it will save you time and money in the long run unless you got money on hand to spend.
as for suspension if the car has it then great, if not you will mostly likely cough up a fair amount of money .

you got to remember its a 20 year old car
so its not going to be in perfect condition unless your willing to cough up money.

if u want to "drift" and ur a P plater wanna be, thats just seen initial d go get a silvia, already initially much better setup for it and heaps more of em around.
don't go crashing more sprinters

a sprinter round here just got bought and on the first night the guy had it he crashed, they are getting too rare for this Sad

i've got a AE86 and its my first car, i would recommend buying a sprinter with a 4ag already in it as i am currently putting a 4AG in mine and it has cost me a whole lot more than i first thought, but if you know what your doing and have access to a good workshop then you get to know a lot about the engine and car while you are doing the conversion.
as for drift, don't get too adventurous untill you have go the hang of it from track days etc.
