Manual Convert

I have an MZ12 Soarer ,6M-GEU with a shagged A340E (30-40LE)
Alljap will sell me a low mile box for $400 with 3 months, but I reeeaally want to go manual.
I've been told a W57 will bolt straight in, yes??
but my real dilema is finding flywheel, pedal box, clutch etc.
If i can locate the stuff off a factory 5 speed MZ/GZ, is it all going to bolt straight in to my auto model?
and secondly, can anyone help on getting a hold of these parts?
(the gearbox itself is no trouble)
Thanks in advance
(edit) just as a second thought, is there anyone that can compare an MZ Soarer to a Supra & see if that gear might work. are the firewalls maybe the same?
(bump)

come on guys, pleeaaase I really need this.
I can't get any good help or advice up here in Townsville & I dont' want to go purchasing things to find they are useless when they arrive here.

the MX83 does not come in manual form
try the MA70 supra for donor parts with your manual conversion.
i am not very savy on the early soarer models but i know for sure that the model before the 30 series (i think its the MZ-20?)shares similar floor pan, the same suspension and steering components as the MA70.

cheers for hat Rob, I didn' realise the cressida's were released auto only, but it makes sense i guess.
I guess looking at pics of the MA70 engine bay alone, its very similar to the old soarers, and I know they do share suspension aswell, so you could be right there
can anybody confirm this for me?

I think you'll find the MZ12 Soarer shares most of its mechanicals with the MA61 Supra. The MZ20 Soarer is the uglier cousin of the MA70 Supra. So your best bet is to look for parts from a MA61 Supra or RA6x Celica.

I've got the parts from a RA65 Celica. (They come out with the 22RE don't they?)

You want a W58 in your car. If you get all the bits, then it'll be no hassle. You'll need to remember stuff like the pedals, clutch hydraulics, centre console trim, etc. etc.
MX83 can be converted to manual using supra parts - the place for the clutch cylinder is on the firewall, and the other stuff will work out with some fiddling. Remember, it's only in australia that they are auto only - there are such things as manual JZX81 chasers, even if they are hard to find.
I'd suggest you leave the ma61 supra/celica parts alone, yes the box will work but nothing else will (I don't think anyway!)

From my understanding the W57 and W58 are almost identical(5th gear differs slightly)
Apparently some people also say that W58's are a bit stronger

Why do you say that? I've looked at an MZ12 up close and it seemed mechanically identical to my MA61... they appear to be the same car with different panels! I'd say there's an excellent chance the pedal box, clutch hydraulics etc would be interchangeable. Can't guarantee it though.

Norbie, so then is the MA61 pretty much identical to that of the gear & an MA70?
I really want to find out what is going to be he very least work in mods, as I don't have too much money to waste on long cuts.

The MZ12 is very similar to an MA61 Supra, whereas the MZ20 is similar to an MA70 Supra.

How much is a good price for all the gear? $300? ($250 for gbox, $50 for pedal/etc.)

Pete, It would seem that I'm best off getting MA61 Supra gear from most reports. I myself don't know what, if any difference there is to the RA65 celica stuff.
I'm guessing the clutch stuff & pedals will be the same.
SO I'm still interested in getting your gear, I've just got to do some more snooping first
cheers

Pedals and clutch hydraulics are the same. The box itself is possibly the same (I think RA65's come with W58's?) but if not it's similar and will still bolt in. The only major difference is the bellhousing - you need one from a car with an M series engine, so obviously the R series bellhousing from an RA65 is no good to you.

The W58 came out in some later RA65's and most manual Supras.
The W57 came out in some Celicas, some imported Supras.

Dellow Automotive will have the spiggot bearing. They may have the rest of the stuff you need too. Probably will have a bellhousing, but if its new you'll pay for it. There should be a few bellhousings hanging around people's garages from the forums.
