Surge Tank / Fuel pump questions Mon, 24 March 2003 09:38 Go to next message
G'day all,

I've been offered at the right price all the EFI gear from a 4ME. The inlet manifold, fuel rail, computer etc, and was hoping to bolt up to my 4MU in the crown. It will bolt straight up. its just the matter of converting a carby car to a EFI.

I know I've got to put a surge tank and fuel pumps in.

My questions are,

Just to ask for general knowledge on the topic.
(all info is helpful.)

Where to get a surge tank and fuel pumps?

How much am I going to pay?

If it is a bastard to put in, who can I pay to do it?
(and they'll do a good job)

All this keeping in mind that eventually I am going to put a 7MGTE if not a 1JZGTE or 2JZGTE. So I would like to do the job properly the first time. i.e. over kill for the worn 4M but adequate for the other donks. Unless I can get away with it very cheaply and say use a later model crown pump etc etc,

Any response from ppl that have done this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
the Stitt

How's tafe u bum? Twisted Evil
A setup for any of your future motors would cost big bucks, as in closer to a grand than 500 bucks, when you include good big pump, good lift pump, biggish surge tank & then bigger fuel lines & EFI hose, any fittings, wiring & relays etc.
A surge tank & pumps that would do for the 4M would be fairly easy to sell when you do need to upgrade.
Also, if you can make it well protected, mounting the surge tank & HP pump in the engine bay might be worth considering in your case, with the wagon & all.

Luke you sleeze I told you I'd fit it when I get back from my forced stay in Tas. I should be able to get it before I go. So you only need to clean it up, 3 months should be ample Very Happy .
