i got a set of wrx seats to put into my sprinter and when i sit them in there they sit way to high, not like the standard seats, was wonderin if anyone has put similar seats into there sprinter and how they went about it, didn't really want to hack up the rails too much. my head hits the head lining in the car when they are in there...
any ideas
thanks

I don't know about WRX seat but I did put Recaro seat in sprinter, just cut the factory seat rail off and bolt them on the Recaro, done.

i just put silvia seats in my ra65 and one of the track was missing.. then i carved up my supra seat and swapped over, one rail sat higher than the other...fixed this with a piece of tubing and welded it together, done
its easy to raise the seat, hard to lower the height of it
my advice is take it to a sheetmetal shop (not engineers to expensive) get them to carve stuff up wouldnt cost more than $80
make sure you ask that in case you ever want to take the seats out again (maybe you get new carpet or something) that you can and that they dont just cut the floorpan and weld the rails direct, dodgy
cheers

by the way, the NSW RTA site has a tech section somewhere which describes the legal way to bolt seats to the floorpan... if I find it again I'll post the URL up.

I've got almost exactly the same problem - put in a different seat yesterday, went for a drive and got a stiff neck from sticking my head out the sunroof(although I do this quite a lot anyway - goes down well on the freeway )
I'm gonna see what I can do with different rails, some grinding and welding, etc, etc. If I come up with a really class idea I'll letcha know. Otherwise at least I can give sympathy
I've sat the sprinter seats in a few diff cars e.g. gemini, and they sure do sit low...

I've got a Recaro out of a Lancer Evo IV.
I'm going to get custom rails made. I've looked at the factory 86 rails, and it doesn't look like there is anyway it'll fit.

they are out of an early one i think... i picked them up through a guy my dad knew who dealt with import wreckers... they're actually out of a japan. they cost me $300 for the pair, but unfortunately i can't offer any info of where they came from, or how to get more. i was just suggesting the seats themselves.

that's good that you can offload them, better still if you can get your money back, or even make a little...
when it was time to get the seats for my car, i really wanted another set this guy had which were from an MR2, late model Black leather. he wanted $600, which at the time was bit too much. however, thinking about it now, they probably would not have fit in as easily as the MX5 seats did.
well good luck, and i still do suggest that you have a look at an MX5, even a later model one, cos they might just be right.

Thanks!

the seat rails themselves were left alone as they were a good height... the only modifications were made to the mounting points on the rails to the mounting points on the floor pan. it was actually very simple and easy using only a small amount of scrap metal to adapt the MX5 rails onto the floor. only tood a few hours.
