i'm looking at going the 'tame' route and fit just a stock 18R-GEU into my RA28 project
does anyone know of a decent motor importer/seller that i could find one of these engine at, preferably someone that has dealt with the company before
is it still possible to get one of these engines still in its halfcut??
thanks in advance

These engines are over 20 years old now, so you won't find one at any importer. Mention 18R-G and they'll just give you blank looks. The trading post is your best bet, or go to a CCCQ club meeting and see if anyone is selling one there.

1G's aren't cheap any more... a friend of mine recently bought a manual GA70 front cut, and the cheapest he could find was $2k. The whole attraction of the 1G swap was its bang-for-buck factor, but that's nowhere near as good now.

Rolin seems like your best bet these days. You could also try Japparts and Asian Auto Spares. They're generally not interested in haggling, but it won't hurt to try I guess...

Check the trading post too (http://www.tradingpost.com.au
I think there was an 18RG and a 1G for sale there.
