F/S: 16" Race (R Compound) Tyres in Perth Thu, 27 March 2003 09:44 Go to next message
I've a load of Dunlop and Yokahama R comp tyres to sell. These tyres are all originally street legal DOT approved items with an emphasis on gripping ability and strength through construction with reinforced sidewalls, and the like. While some of the tyres below are no longer street legal, they still have lots of life left in them for motorkhanas, gymkhanas, circuit testing, ..., and street car drag racing. They won't be the best in wet conditions due to their tread pattern and depth, but they're not designed for that either!

4 of 205/50/16 Dunlop D98's scrubbed, some grooved $25ea
2 of 225/45/16 Dunlop D98's 30% tread, $50ea
2 of 225/45/16 Dunlop D98's 90% tread, $200ea
2 of 245/45/16 Advan 032R's grooved but good tread depth, $50ea

I'm actually interested in the 4 D98 205/50/16s, but the price of freight from Perth to Melbourne has scared me a bit. If you can give me a price for freight, we might be able to do a deal.
Feel free to PM me or email me at:

Cheers Dave.

GT,
I'm sure we could work out something with freight - even thought they are bulky items, the fact that they can be lose packed may make it easier for the transport mob. If you have any transport contacts (be they companies or interstate truckies)ask them what they would charge you, I'll do the same over here and let you know! I once shipped my sister from Melbourne back to Perth for a bottle of bourbon - she says it was the best trip she's ever had, but we made sure she rode with a respectable truckie friend of the time!
Clint!

I just measured my 205/50/16's and multiplied the size by 4 (ended up being 100x60x60 cm package around 25 kg in weight - a guess), and Toll Ipec wanted about $160. I don't have any truckie contacts that go across the Nullarbor.
If you are interested in coming halfway on the freight (or can offer a better suggestion!), I'll buy them. Happy to spot any transport mates you have a bottle of Bourbon!
Cheers Dave.

GT,
That price sounds high to me - I can freight a motor for around $110. I'll check on my end too. Could you put a post up asking for truckie friends or freight company contacts, I'm irregularly at the computer, you look like you spend a bit more time near one! Can you sms me your location, as I'll need that to confirm a price?

Ps, will also throw in some tyre bite to really help the traction!

Gonna repost this as I want to have a shed clean out, and the tyres are just one of many things that need to go. Have used a transport company that provides good prices, for moving items like this, so interstate is also a viable option.
Just to make sure everyone has the idea, these tyres suit race style conditions, not full street use - they are DOT approved but wouldn't last long on the street, they're extremely soft compounds, and have large tread blocks.

Mini Car Club (will only cost you $15 to join as a sporting member, or full membership is $30), are having a track day on the 26th October at the Collie Powerhouse Complex. Entry for members is only $50 for the whole day, and instructors are available. Will be taking my RA28 with a 3TGTE and a dumpload of shock work.

Bumpity bump! I used a set of these tyres on the weekend for a track day - they were absolutely awsome, and definately the best thing on the car followed closely by the brakes!

The 225's are fine, the 245's show 3-4mm tread depth and have been grooved to do so. I'd estimate freight to Sydney would be in the order of $60-80, for the tyres.

$60 - $100, why don't you ask a freight company close to you?
