A friend called me up to say come check out my car (180sx).
He only owned it for 30minutes drove it home and it was already over heating. Coolant was leaking. Fuel tank was dripping bits of fuel. only after 30minutes of running it overheated. no smoke from the exhaust so i dont think its a gasket. the fan is spinning fine. car is pretty much stock except for the blow off valve. the car looked like a drift puppy.. scratches on the mirrors and bottom bodykit. apparently the guy was a mechanic the previous owner.

When it's a mechanic's car, beware.
They tend not to take care of their own stuff.
Plus he probably did the safety certificate himself to pass that heap.
It's probably full of no smoke so there is no smoke.
If only you went and checked it out with him, he probably wouldn't have bought it. Ah well.
I hope it's only simple things like hoses that need replacing to fix the leaks.

my g/f has a 180sx, had serious overheating problems, went through 2 radiators in a year, apparently if the engine is not correctly/ cleanly earthed, then electricity can flow through the water and finally puts holes in the radiator (due to arcing out on it) my solution was to first replace the rad, then earth the engine in several places straight to the battery, (this is very worthwile if the engine has been out several times)- dont know about the fuel tank though? (probably has tiny bit of water in it)
