The Future Of RWD Engine Swaps Fri, 28 March 2003 02:22 Go to next message
I am bored today at work so i thought id research all of the RWD engines toyota are building (2003) and the cars they come in.

Some interesting information here is that there are no more small RWD turbo engines to be seen.

Nark could you possibly convert this to a tech article for me plz?

Ok heres the list: All Engines Are BEAMS & VVTi

SEDAN

Aristo: 2JZ-GTE, 2JZGE

Altezza: 3S-GE, 1G-FE

Verossa: 1JZ-GTE, 1JZ-FSE

Crown Athlete: 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-FSE, 1JZ-FSE, 1JZ-GE

Crown Sedan: 1G-FE (THS-M <-- that means toyota hybrid system!!!), 3Y-PE (LPG)

Crown Majesta: 2JZ-FSE, 1UZ-FE

Crown Royal: 2JZ-FSE, 1JZ-FSE, 2JZ-GE, 1JZ-GE, 1G-FE

Celsior: 3UZ-FE

Century: 1GZ-FE (yeah we wish!)

Brevis: 2JZ-FSE, 1JZ-FSE

Progress: 2JZ-FSE, 1JZ-FSE

Mark II: 1JZ-GTE, 1JZ-FSE, 1JZ-GE, 1G-FE

WAGON

Altezza Gita: 2JZ-GE, 1G-FE

Crown Estate: 2JZ-FSE, 1JZ-FSE, 1JZ-GTE, 1JZ-GE, 1G-FE

Mark II Blit: 1JZ-GTE, 1JZ-FSE, 1JZ-GE, 1G-FE

4WD

Hilux Surf: 5VZ-FE, 3RZ-FE

Hilux Ute: 3RZ-FE, 1RZ-FE

Land Cruiser: 2UZ-FE

Land Cruiser 100: 2UZ-FE

Prado: 5VZ-FE, 3RZ-FE

Thats about it, it was really hard to tell if any of the vans were RWD, as all of them had engines like the celica or corolla.

So yeah not a RWD turbo 2litre (the caldina did have the 3S-GTE but that wasnt north south).

have a good one.

Wow ... what are they paying you to do at work? Shocked

Anyway, I doubt if that changes things ... last small RWD engine made was the 4AGE for the AE86. Ppl have been forced to do FWD to RWD swaps ever since ...

Um ... so unless we recondition all our ol' 4AG's, looks like there'll come a time when we have to figure out how to mount a greater than 2 litre engine in a Sprinter. Me thinks then it's either SR20 or ROTARY time! Laughing

The BEAMS 3SGE is one wonderful motor that was built specifically in RWD trim - Altezza.

Pity they are so rare here!
