im looking at getting some wheels for my ae86 when i get it
doing some planning and i want 15x8.0 all round
the wheel style i want comes in
100/114.3 with +3 offset and 4 stud pattern
or
100/114.3 with -4.5 offset and 4 stud pattern
i cant remember what is better for RWD cars + or - offset
plus the car will bw lowered with whiteline full kit too
not LOWLOW but practical low

If you want to go low, then anything 8inches wide at an offset of 0mm +/- 15mm or so will foul the bodywork/suspension
I believe that 8 inch wide rims are what i would refer to as 'stupidly wide'.
To be honest i reckon you're going to have trouble. Eg:
(1) If you have a larger positive offset the scrub radius is going to go through the roof which with an 8 inch wide rim is going to put massive stress on the steering system, not to mention your arms.
(2) if you keep the offset close to the stock then they will foul on the strut/spring.
You simply cant win
I would suggest getting wheels to fit your car properly (ie not 8 inches wide) instead of trying to fit some, if you get what i mean.

as far as I know, all of us who circuit race these models use 14 x 7. I doubt a 8" rim would ever fit on the front. As it is, you need 4-5 degrees neg camber to clear the guard & front bumper with the 7" .

i like fatter wheels, they just look more beefy to me!
so a 15.7 would work all around?
even with spacers 8.0 would not fit?

I did a lot of research into the factory wheel offerings and their various dimensions.
The closest wheel to what your after in factory fittings is the the MA61 Supra rim: 14x7 +8 offset
Ignoring the wheel height you can use the width and offset as an indicator of what will work on your car. I have safely run 16x7 +25 offset on mine but I think the ideal compromise would have been +15.
Looking through the list of wheels you provided I would think that 15x7 +15 or possibly the 15x7.5 +11 would work. The 15x7 is what I would use.
You could always have 8's on the rear and 7's on the front? But you would need to work out the right offset on the rears.

15 x 7 +15 offset would be optimal. BTW what type of wheels are they as I'm looking at wheels for my Sprinter too.

What class are planning to race this is in (referring to your other posts as well)? Different classes have different rules pertaining to wheel width/diameter/profile of tyre. For example, Class 3J (Improved Production) states your car couldn't run more than a 7" wide wheel. Sports sedans might allow something different.
I suggest you get a CAMS manual, work out which class you want to run in, and then design your car around that.

The Japs do put 8's on the back but the guards need to be lipped. Best offset for 8's would be +20 or +25, but I don't know why you want to do that. The wider the rear tyres are, the more understeer you will get.
I suspect that you want wider rears to fill up the guards. If that is the case, 15 x 7 +15 front and 15 X 7.5 +15 rear would do the trick.

you hit the nail on the head
i just want to fill out the guards
have the tyres flush with the side panel but dished in the center
if you get me
deep dish but offset enough to reach the guards
i was planing to lip the guards anyhow for that widebody look
(ie the j-blood trueno which im trying to replicate )
i was not aware of the problem with understeering though
whats your icq/msn hachi? your a valuable contact!

Anyone know what the offset on early Nissan 180sx's are? From memory, they will fit MA-61 Supras, Cressidas & Sprinters - but I'm guessing the offset will be huge. If not, that would open up a whole range of off the rack' wheels.

ae86drift: Where are you getting these wheels? I was looking for similar wheels (either Watanabe's or SSR Longchamps), and finally found a set of SSR Longchamps 15x6.5 +18, ordered them and all but found that shipping was too expensive so got refunded (exporters mistake)... So now I'm looking again!

celica-sue: the wheel stud pattern is slightly off from memory. the wheels dont fit. although i could be wrong.
demuire: i am shipping them from japan form a contact i have in okinawa.im getting them shipped via air-express.
its going to cost me upwards of $300 for shipping from japan but i am getting a lot of JDM stuff for my hachi the same way.
an entire J-Blood Kit (front bar and lip, side skirts, rear hatch trd-esq wing, rear under spoiler, carbon fiber bonnet) will be coming aswell. to a total price af around $4000 for a kit and wheels shipped via airexp in 4 days.
the other option is spend an extra 1000 on a 11 ft container and buy a shitload of other stuff with my friends importing license and wait 2 months. ....
what price do you put on NEW parts from japan?
and the plus is i may be making copies of the kit for everyone else

Sprintr: I was dealing with Hikari in Japan, and I paid $680 for 4 of those exact rims (they'd better not be those rims), and $230 for shipping. And then they got back to me and said they couldn't send it because apparently last Friday all the shipping companies imposed a 20kg max per box and increased all the shipping rates by 20% (don't know if this is bull or not). I tried to negotiate something but they said it would cost too much to ship them, and that was AFTER they took the tyres off, so I thought even if I got them for the same price of $910 delivered, that's without tyres and equates to about $230 per rim for 2nd hand rims. At that price I might as well buy brand new rims here.
So yes, I'm still looking for rims, but can't seem to find any I like that would fit...
*edit* the rims I paid for were 15x6.5, the ones on their website are 14"

sprintr: Yes I know. The Adelaide office referred me to their Japan office because they said the Japan office had more rims to suit my application, which they were right about.
