3S-GTE INTO 1988 SX Celica

Hey all
Just wondering if anyone has done such a conversion, or if anyone knows how difficult it will be. I'm just looking for a project to give my old Celica a bit of life and blow off the occasional V8. I'm definitely classed as a "Newbie" so be gentle, and any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Matt

matty - there was a big thread not long ago about a 3sgte into a st185 - your conversion is very similar to this
do a search in the forums search screen ( linik is in top right hand corner of this one ) and type in what your looking for .. the thread is HUGE and has a good amount of info ..
OR you could do what i did - and just go out and buy a GT4 and have REAL fun

Yeah. or you could put a 3sgte into your 162 and have BETTER power delivery to your front wheels. 4WD is overrated

ha - power delivery to sit and bag up the front wheels maybe
benny - have you driven a Gt4 out of curiousity ?
Anyway - by the time you buy a 3sgte , get the ECU to work with it - strengthen the clutch plate to deal with the extra power AAND have all this gear fitted - you could have sold the St162 - and bought a St165 - with all of it already done And two extra wheels
BUT if you still want to do it - well - Check the other thread !

The ST185 already has a 3SGTE... i think u mean a 184
I've done this swap in my 90 model celica. It really goes hard, much harder than any GT4 ive driven. If u love ur car and are willing to spend 3000+ on it then i suggest this swap. If not, just buy a ST165 and put an exhaust and a front mount on it.
Also, there's no fun in AWD... nothing beats some serious torque steer.
