toyota takes unofficial lap record

a Japanese GT series supra running a monster turbo 3SGTE recently bettered the lap record at queensland raceway by nearly 4 seconds. Thats much quicker than our best V8 supercar!!!.
The car was bought over by Yokohama for tyre testing and supposedly went thru several hundred tyres in a 2 day program recently. The TOMS car was reportedly one of the batch raced by Wayne Gardner.

A GT500 car at QR hey? Where did you hear this? Would not have minded going.. But why would TOMS fly out the car out here for Tyre testing for Wayne Gardner.

yeah, i thought they may have advertised something like this as i am sure many people would pay to see a GT500 supra racing around QR.
I hope it is true so i can brag to any bogans!!! hehe

Its actually quite believable, because if you read one of the articles in April issue of fast fours it says how Wayne gardener is gonna give up the GT500 series cause of having to spend too much time away from his family.
So therefore if they wanted the testing done by Wayne they'd have to bring the car here.

Never believe anything you read in fast fours, or at least don't base any theories on it. Wayne Gardner isn't a reason enough to bring the car halfway around the world, I'd be willing to put money on it that he wouldn't even be involved if it did happen.

Didn't say it didn't happen, I just said not to base theories on trashy magazines. In fact it did happen, I was working there and can guarantee that Mr. Gardiner was not involved.
