Conversion finished, but now I need...

...some decent tyres and wheels, because the car is almost undriveable in the wet.
I'd originally intended to keep it completely stock-looking so as to not attract attention (a genuine "sleeper", if you will..)
Anyway, drove it home in the wet the other night, and concluded that I need some reasonable rubber on it as it was almost impossible to drive it anywhere without spinning the wheels!
I doubt that I'll find decent tyres in the 13" OEM size, so I need to find a set of 14" wheels (mags or similar) that will fit a KE70 Corolla, and will take some O.K rubber (Perhaps 205/55 or similar?)
Thanks in advance!

wider rubber=aquaplanning wider rubber is not always the answer as the weight of the car is spread over a greater patch and gives less pressure on the road and also you get more water under a wider tire which does help. 205's might be ok I know 235's are no good BUT they are great fun

...True! I'm looking for the best "balance" between reasonable foot-print and wet weather performance. Thus, I'd imagine 205 would be the max I'd consider (possibly 195s?) with a good directional (read water-dispersing) tread.
For comparison, I recently put a set of Yoko AVS sports on my Soarer, with a VERY aggressive water-dispersion tread pattern. These tyres are 235/45ZR17 and 265/40ZR17 respectively, yet I doubt they'd aquaplane like an "inferior" wide tyre might...In testing of these tyres, it was noted that their performance potential couldn't be properly assessed unless their was an inch or more of water across the road! Naturally, I'm not willing to spend that kind of money ($1800) on the Corolla, but I will pay decent $ for an effective wheel/tyre combo.

Sounds O.K...
Will they definitely fit a KE70 with standard hubs?

i just replied to your email. I was thinking about an SC12 or 14, a 1g-gze one. What bits do you have cause I would need pulley configuration and SC mount, piping air cleaner etc. Might be able to add it to the ignition parts and TPS.

Hi Crostek, If you still have the wheels/tyres, can you tell me what is the lowest cash you'd take for them?
(Sorry to sound cheap, but the 'roller has already gone WAY over budget, and a fair bit remains to be done...anyway, tell me what you think).

Lowest price is $750
It cost me 500 to get the rims rebuilt/re-rolled. and the tyres are Dunlop formula W10 205/60 14 which are brand new and set me back 600, so there a good price. I measured the wheels and the widths are 6.5 inch and 7.5 inch to acuate.

A set of rims from a sigma or other car with the same stud pattern. I only suggest Sigma because I believe they are the pick of the bunch. They could make a cheap alternative until you find some mags you like
