Looking for a new car to mod?

Those who are after some cheap performance should take note of this...
I was driving home the other night when I happened to stop at the lights beside a new Toyota Echo, still adapting to the new clutch and flywheel I am having to give it a few revs off the standing start so as not to stall the car now that the brass button is in.
Anyway the guy in the Echo must have thought that I was wanting to race so he started to give it a caneing, doing my usual trick I let him go a bit holding the engine at 4500rpm waiting for him to change before I floored it past him......
but he just kept reving so I put the boot right in, it was a very close thing through all the gears and it was only after breaking the speed limit a couple of times over that I finally pulled him back and got in front. Im sure the bloke was having a good laugh because he very nearly pipped me, which would have been a little embarassing had I not had Rod in the car with me...we just looked at each other not believing how much power these little cars had.
So in the near future I can see a whole lot of these cheap little cars getting a few minor upgrades and being quite competitive in the class range, they are definately not something to dismiss quickly from a traffic light drag

Haven't investigated this closely, but I believe there's already a few performance upgrades available for the Echos. hmmmm... Quad Throttles
(Not that I'd admit it if i was beaten by one!!)

I'll give an echo a run anyday... It all depends on the driver and most of us won't have to be sitting at the lights on a few revs... Can the Echo win??? ... hehehe... A few mates and myself tried bagging an echo up but it didn't work... We sat it on about 5000rpm and dumped it and it died in the arse end... That was only a stocker though... Michael, was it a sportivo model that u raced??? They usually go a LITTLE bit harder...

there's something wrong with your sprinter if an echo kept up Mike.
I drive the little rattle tins daily, they're nothing to get excited about.

The Sportivo ones with the "big-block" 1.5 in the three door body may be alright...

Didn't TOP SECRET turbo one to do 14's? The ultimate "Q" car. It would really piss off the standard Falcodore brigade.

Sportivo.... Weighs next to nothin, 85kw = fast for a economical lil bEAST! I gave a guy a run in a hONDA (accliam??) around some very twistie curly stuff, he nearly lost it... came up to have a big look later and said What is that thing !!!???? Looks like a shopping trolly! ( I think his missus is stil in shock) We run 17" chromies+low profile and very little other than a 2.5" straight thru from the resonator box... very kick arse small & Tall

Thats right!!! Echo's weigh jack shit compared to Rolla's or Sprinter's or whatever... Yeah, I think Top Secret did run close to those times... But WHY??? I'm not knocking the echo's, but comparing it to the other projects that Top Secret have... If you look at the Supra, Skyline and the other per4mance cars, you'd prob think the same... It probably would have been a Honda Accord... An Acclaim is a Commodore model...

What do you mean you caught up.... You got flogged !!
Nah Just Kidding
Not sure what model Echo it was but It did surprise me ! It was Black with vvti on the back if that helps. And the Guy driving it was really skinny so he had a weight advantage
Definatly went for what I was expecting to be a gutless buzz box !

Hey last Conversion I went to you were the one on your back
Besides how did you really damage your knee ?
I suppose for a 4AGE it did do a good job to catch up. Mind you if you'd had a 2TG in that thing you would have flogged it

Dont know why youre asking about my knee??? you were kneeling in front of me when it happened
My 4AGE still goes faster than your 2TG in the car shown in your avatar

My engine bay may be empty but to be fair I'll borrow Tina's car. A girls car verses a Girls car ! hahahaha
And as for kneeling... If you had of come out from under the car before opening your mouth I wouldn't have had to
But anyway... How about those Echo's !
