You are going to Melbourne for a holiday in about a month or so remember. Maybe it will still be available and some generous person will bring a car that can carry and engine along on your holiday.

I think the motor was in a TA22 Celica.

I was going to put it in a KE70, but ended up going with a Gen 2 3SGE and W57 supra box instead (oh and it ended up in a Datsun 1600 as well)

Main issues are...
1. making some engine mount (pretty easy if you can use a welder)

2. plumbing the cooling as the water outlet from the head is at the back. I just got some alloy tube and ran it down the side of the motor.

3. Distributor. This is also at the back and can cause some clearance issues. There are a number of ways which you can deal with this depending on whether you are going to run carbs, after market efi or the original induction.

4. Need to get exhaust manifold made. I do have a RWD exhaust manifold for it which may or may not suit the car you want to put it in.

Otherwise there is a clutch and flywheel to go with it to suit the T50, it requires a hydraulic system though. Spigot bearing is already in place.

Cheers
Simon

So since it came out of a TA22 would it be a straight bolt up to another one or was ur TA22 heavily modified to fit it?

I think the exhaust manifold I have for it was for the TA22, so that shouldn't be a problem.

It was using the weber manifold, so if you have a pair of 40 DCOEs or some dellorto or solexes you could use those for carburation.

The only issues will be the engine mounts (I have some that may work), plumbing the cooling system which isn't a biggie and the Distributor.

I've used the cut down dizzy from it in my other motor as a sync trigger. You'll need to find another one to modify to your needs. I have seen a 3SGE done with a dizzy mounted to the front of one of the camshafts, which solves the rear clearance issue.

I've added some photos to the original message.

In it you can see the exhaust manifold which I think was for the TA22, and the weber manifold with a single Weber bolted to it (although the manifold is for twin side drafts)
