how much work is involved in a straight change over for an A340 auto box? on an MZ Soarer with 6M-GE
Mechanic wants $250-$300 to do it.
Sound fair, or do it myself?

That's a fair price IMO. Definitely do it yourself if you think you can though! Swapping an auto isn't a difficult job if you have someone to help you.

Thanks Norbie
sounds a fair price to me also, but if I can do it with a hand from a mate and a couple hours, that money would be much better spent towards some brews at the pub after the job's done IMO.
is it just a matter of getting some ramps, unbolt it & bolt the new one up or what.
Any trickery, alignments, or things to be careful of on the way?If there's not too much chance of me causing damage I'll like to crack it myself

Get a workshop manual, that will tell you everything you need to know. If you already know which end of a spanner to hold you won't have a problem.

If you can do it yourself, you can afford a 2 storey BBQ with the savings, then have a party to celebrate.
