i just got my hot 4's mag in the mail. daniel rucci's carolla is looking tougther than ever! top job! but what makes me scratch my head , is people are still putting a bov on a ze????? it sounds great, you can hear the sc spin through it when venting, it doesnt work! the bov and sc is on the induction side of the throttle body, when the butterfly snaps shut, there is a BIG vacum. the only way to make a bov work on a sc ze is relocate the tb after the sc. if you have done this mod, put your hand over the bov, give it a quick rev , so the bov opens, it will suck, not blow. i'm not picking on daniel (his car is awesome) but the bov just wont work as a bov (maybe a sov) in this situation. also steve's gt4 is in there.

The way that Daniel has his BOV set up is the same way that my BOV was set up on my ZE, and it does actually blow air out, but not very loud.
Cheers Norm.
P.S. I hope this doesn't start a fight :-
P.P.S. There is a picture of Jakes bonnet in the mag aswell, should have his full feature next issue

Damn i love that rolla!!! I love the widebody ... Oz-Craig, How much is Daniel's motor??? Jakes bonnet looks fuckin' awesome ... With subscribing to Hot4s, you get 1/2 price off the cover but yeah... You don't get the freebies... By the way, you have to buy poster books anyway, they don't come free...

I get FREE poster books, theres like a stack of about 50 mags and I go through them and find the ones with poster books. It was better when they had the old issues of Hot4s as I dont have alot before sept last year.

Brett, you do get a free poster book every year! You also used to get a calender aswell not sure now though. I liked the mag much better before that new Tim guy took over, but its getting better again. As for how much ealier it comes out, Well heres a good example. I got the the latest HiPo mag today, so see when it gets in the news agents.

Daniel replaced the BOV "to vent hot air out of the supercharger, to reduce heat" or something along those lines.
This is what he told me just after he put the gze in.
Forgetting the reason why he put it in, he does not run the standard ABV, so some type of vent needs to be in between the motor and the supercharger in case of an inlet backfire. If it is locked up tight with no vent, and u have an inlet back fire.... well things get nasty!

the way i understand it is the only 2 reasons for having the abv is to bleed off excess boost with the factory settings(7-8 psi), and provide a route for air to bypass the sc when it is not spinning,( as written by David Kucharczyk. http://mr2.com/TEXT/SuperChargerInfo.html ), when running more than standard we mod it to stay shut until it see's a vacum, as the sc has a clutch, it doesnt need to vent at all when at idle. so as some of the guy's in the states and england, i have removed mine and blocked the holes. the air passes through the sc instead of being bypassed ( i have not noticed any difference in performance or throttle responce from doing this) another mod i have tryed/done (as a few of the guy's from the states) is taking the valve that the three vent lines (from the sc) that purges vented air into the intake system off, and putting one tube/pipe from the front vent to the back vent ( they say they have noticed and measured boost lose from these vents). i suppose anything is worth a try. more boost, more boost (it just keeps saying it in my head)

Hey guys... I see you have some questions about the BOV. We did that when we originally did the GZE swap over 2 years ago. It was basically an experiment to see how it would go... in reality its just a waste of time and I wouldn't recomend anyone doing it. And yes I have sold the engine with the computer.
I'll be back for Final Battle... come say hello.. I'll be on the dyno as well... thats the plan, just got to stick to it!!
Speak to ya'll soon!
