how much boost?:
any other mods to affect this?:
also, if you haven't blown the turbos, could you state
how much boost:
How many kms since new or rebuilt:
what boost controller:
just trying to get some info. on what boost level is actually safe for the ct12a's.
thanks in advance

My turbos are still running smoothly at 125,000km.
Running 8.5psi for 100,000km, 12.5psi for the other 25,000km.
Never rebuilt, no boost controller. My exhaust change caused the boost to bump up 4psi by itself.
Apparently safe boost level with standard dump pipes is only around ~12.5psi. You can wind it up to ~15psi with the twin pipe modification. Heat is the killer of these turbos, so getting the heat away from them quickly will extend their life considerably.

from what I've heard from most 1jz owners, it's safe to boost them to about 13psi... after that they're fragile.
personally mine are running (sort of) stock boost, and have done around 100 000

About 75000 Klms on my old turbos.
Still sweet condition when i pulled them off.
62000Klms on stock boost.(Bone Stock Half-cut)
About 13000klms on 14.7 PSI (fuel cut limited)
I really could not be bothered fixing the fuel cut problem,as i knew a tuneable ECU was in the wings.

Still have the original turbos at 218,000. Not a problem with them (as far as i can tell). ~8 psi most of the time, occasionaly 11 psi using a Profec B. Bought the car with ~80,000 and since then it has had a very VERY hard life.

My 1st pair from the front cut (115000k's???) were stuffed from day one (smokey). 2nd pair lasted 2 months and died after overboost (17psi). 3rd pair - also smokey and currently been removed to make way for rebuilt units by the current owner. So in other words don't run too much boost!!

you can put an aftermarket turbo on absolutely anything... as long as you're willing to pay.
particularly to get yourself a custom manifold made up
